A 500 gallon green tank on a 48 inch circle
The Snyder 32669 holds 500 gallons of water in a green high density linear polyethylene shell 48 inches across and 73 inches tall, weighing 95 pounds. Forty-eight inches goes through a double door and stands in the corner of a garage, a well house or a garden shed, and green blocks light like black does while sitting quietly against planting. A 1-1/2 inch inlet, a 2 inch outlet, a 20 inch lid, and a rating of 1.0 specific gravity for water and liquids no heavier.

Setting a 500 gallon vertical
Full, the 32669 puts 4,170 pounds on a 48 inch circle: a paver pad, compacted gravel or a slab in full contact with the whole floor, and the concrete pad sizing guide covers the slab. At 73 inches on 48 the tank is stable but worth strapping outdoors. Whether a vertical is the right shape at all is the question the vertical versus horizontal tank tradeoffs article answers for the larger sizes; at 500 gallons, vertical wins on floor space almost every time. The tank sizing calculator checks 500 gallons against the draw.
The 48 inch tanks and their neighbors
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32669 (this tank, green) | 500 | 48 x 73 in | 95 lb |
| 32617, mocha | 500 | 48 x 76 in | 80 lb |
| 1800000C126, chemical wall | 550 | 48 x 75 in | 110 lb |
| 1740000C26, chemical wall | 400 | 45 x 64 in | 185 lb |
The mocha 32617 is the close cousin, 3 inches taller and 15 pounds lighter, from a different mold. The two chemical tanks are on the same or a smaller footprint with far heavier walls, rated for liquids denser than water; they cost more resin and more money, and for water the 32669 is the right buy.

Ports and lid
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch fitting, high on the wall.
- Outlet: 2 inch fitting at the base, sized for a booster pump or a gravity feed.
- Access: 20 inch lid; it takes a float valve, a float switch and a fill hose.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Seventy-three inches of head over a 2 inch outlet gives a garden hose a usable flow by gravity, and a 20 inch lid on a 48 inch tank reaches the whole floor for cleaning. A sight tube off the outlet reads the level through the green wall. In a freezing climate, the body takes ice from the top down; the outlet valve and the first run of pipe are the parts to insulate or drain.
Jobs it is bought for
Rain cistern beside a house, well buffer for a slow well, water for a cabin or a camp, stock water on a small holding, and a cell of the fire reserve the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. Several make the storage stage of a small roof-water and condensate reuse system, per the industrial water reuse tank topology article; the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.
Shipping the tank
The 32669 ships palletized as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-01) at a class rate; the freight cost estimator shows it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. Two people carry 95 pounds. Set it, strap it if it lives outside, fill it once to the lid and check both fittings before it goes to work. Keep a screen on the inlet and the vent, and clean it once a year through the 20 inch lid with a wash-down wand, draining through the outlet and letting it dry before the refill. Walk the base after the first hard rain; a pad that shifts shows it at the edge first.
