The Snyder Industries 500 Gallon XLPE Heavy Duty Cone Bottom Tank is built for aggressive chemical-service duty: a crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity, in black, holding 500 gallons in a self-draining cone-bottom geometry. The footprint runs 64 inches across with an overall height of 63 inches, and the tank carries a manway with 15-inch access, an 18-inch PE threaded/vented fitting, and a flange fitting (see the technical drawing on this page for placement). If you have been searching for a 500 gallon cone bottom tank or a 500 gallon XLPE cone tank for dense chemistry, this is the heavy-duty version of that platform - the highest specific-gravity rating Snyder builds it in, so there is no denser-rated step-up to cross-shop.

Will it handle your job?

At 500 gallons, water alone fills the tank to roughly 4,170 lbs. Because this tank is rated to 1.9 specific gravity, its maximum rated contents weight is about 7,923 lbs - that is roughly 3,753 lbs of additional contents capacity over plain water, headroom that is the whole point of the 1.9 rating and what lets you run dense solutions a 1.0 or 1.5 tank cannot safely carry. Size your stand, anchoring, and slab to that loaded number, not the empty shell - it is a figure you can hand straight to a structural engineer. For help matching gallons to your actual draw-down and refill cycle, use the Tank Sizing Calculator or read the Tank Sizing Guide. The cone bottom needs a matched stand to sit on; the Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix and the 500 Gallon Cone Bottom Tank Buyer's Guide walk through that pairing.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded in XLPE and rated to 1.9 specific gravity, which is why it suits dense and aggressive solutions. Compatibility is always concentration- and temperature-specific - verify your exact chemistry, concentration, and service temperature against the OEM chemical-resistance chart before committing, and match the fitting and gasket materials below. XLPE is the right base resin for chemical service here; for the reasoning on when crosslinking earns its keep over standard HDPE, see Snyder XLPE vs HDPE.

Chemicals confirmed compatible with this XLPE 1.9 SG tank, with recommended fitting and gasket materials:

Watch the deviations from the PVC-plus-EPDM default: Hydrofluosilicic Acid needs Viton gaskets rather than EPDM, DEF runs on 316SS fittings, and Propylene Glycol calls for PP or 316SS fittings. Cross-reference your application in the Chemical Compatibility Database and confirm concentration and temperature against the OEM chart before ordering fittings.

The mistake to avoid

The fitting and gasket material is where these installs go wrong, not the tank shell. The XLPE body and 1.9 SG rating handle the chemical and the weight, but a stock EPDM gasket on a Hydrofluosilicic Acid line, or a PVC fitting where 316SS is specified for DEF, will fail long before the tank does. Spec the fitting and gasket to the chemical, not to convenience. If your service involves secondary containment, the Snyder Captor Plus 110% Containment vs UL-142 comparison covers your SPCC options.

This tank ships LTL from Snyder's single plant in Lincoln, NE, so if you are estimating to a distant ZIP, plan for the freight distance from Nebraska. Freight is quoted live to your ZIP - get your number from the Freight Cost Estimator or call 866-418-1777 to lock in delivery and confirm fitting and gasket selection for your chemistry before you order.
