Snyder Industries 5500 Gallon ASTM Black Double Wall Tank

Where it goes

At 172 inches this is the shortest of the 120 inch double wall tanks we list, which is what puts it under a low roof: a plant room with services overhead, a chemical bay off a process hall, a containment area with a canopy. The 1.9 rating puts it with concentrated treatment chemicals at water and wastewater works, bulk acid and caustic on process lines, plating and metal finishing, and any dosing operation that receives dense product by the tanker load over a floor that drains somewhere expensive. If the liquid is near the weight of water, the same shell is sold at a 1.5 rating and we list those versions below; the heavier wall is freight and money you do not need. The pad is a designed slab for up to 87,153 lb on a ten foot circle, level and continuous across the whole footprint and cured before delivery. Measure the clear height to the lowest service above the final position with a platform and the fill connection allowed for over the manway. Openings, and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on top at 172 inches. Fill, inspection, level instrument and vent all share it, so plan them together and put a fixed ladder or platform with fall protection in the installation.
2. Outlet. No outlet or fitting is listed on this product. Tell us the line size, the valve and the pump arrangement when you order and we will confirm with Snyder what 5660000N51 carries and what can be added before it ships.
3. The liquid. Name it, with concentration. The 1.9 rating is a weight rating, not a compatibility statement; fitting materials are chosen against the specific chemistry, and a dense product settles, so keep any suction foot clear of the bottom.
4. Level. The wall is black, so instrumentation is your only level. Choose the low level cut-out with the pump.
5. The space between the walls. No leak detection is listed with the tank. Specify it separately and inspect on a written schedule from the first week; evidence that nothing has left the inner tank is the whole reason for the second wall.

Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL at freight class 250 from Snyder's Lincoln, Nebraska plant, 120 by 120 by 172 inches at 3,800 lb. Walk the route for height and width before the truck is booked, and have a crane or a forklift with the reach to lift it from the base; never by the manway. Set it plumb on the cured slab, fill it with water, hold the 45,870 lb load while you read the manway seal and the base, then drain, dry and inspect the space between the walls before the first chemical goes in. Write the date and the part number on the shell, and check the bill of lading against 5660000N51 at the tailgate.
