The Snyder Industries 6000 Gallon ASTM Black Vertical Storage Tank is a full-size bulk water tank built in polyethylene and rated to a 1.5 specific gravity, so its wall carries a real margin over plain water. At 145 inches tall on a 120-inch by 120-inch footprint, it holds 6,000 gallons for fixed-site storage where you need serious volume in a single vertical tank.

Will it work for your site?

This is a black vertical storage tank for outdoor, above-ground water service - rural fire-water reserves, agricultural and irrigation supply, rainwater capture, and industrial process or reuse water. The black color blocks light to discourage algae growth in stored water. Two numbers govern siting. For plain water, plan for roughly 50,040 pounds of contents (6,000 gal x 8.34 lb/gal). The 1.5 SG rating does not let you add volume - it means the wall is built to hold liquids up to 1.5x water density, or about 75,060 pounds of contents mass, useful only if you store something denser than water. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm your volume.

Footprint, height, and foundation

The 120-inch by 120-inch (10 ft x 10 ft) base sets your minimum pad size, and at 145 inches (just over 12 ft) tall you need overhead clearance for fill, vent access, and delivery offloading. The most common mistake on a tank this size is under-building the foundation: size the pad to the full loaded weight of roughly 50,040 pounds spread across that 10x10 footprint, not the empty tank. See our concrete pad sizing guide before you pour a foundation - this size needs a properly engineered pad, not just level gravel.

Fittings and access

Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank is configured with a flange fitting, an 18-inch polyethylene threaded and vented fitting, and a manway with 15-inch access for interior entry and cleaning. Those are your sealing and connection surfaces: when plumbing inlet, outlet, and overflow, match your bulkhead fittings and gaskets to the flange and the 18-inch PE threaded/vented opening, and size any interior hardware to the 15-inch manway access. Reference the technical drawing on this page for exact fitting placement and elevations before you cut into your system.

Sizing for fire-water and reuse duty

If this tank is going into a private fire-protection reserve, our fire-water reservoir design guide walks through NFPA 22 sizing discipline and cold-climate freeze protection. For grey-water, rainwater, or HVAC condensate aggregation, the industrial water reuse topology guide covers quality-banded storage trains. If you need secondary containment, the Snyder Captor double-wall freeboard guide explains how usable volume changes in a double-wall design.

This tank ships LTL freight from a single Snyder plant in Chowchilla, California, so distance from that origin drives your quote - West Coast ZIPs generally price better than the East Coast. Get a live number to your ZIP with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 to talk through delivery, offloading, and accessories. Listed price is before freight.
