The Snyder Industries 710 Gallon ASTM Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank is a molded high-density linear polyethylene vertical tank built for bulk water and dense-liquid storage where a tough, opaque wall matters. It holds 710 gallons, stands 68 inches tall on a 60-inch diameter footprint (60.0 x 60.0), and carries a 1.9 specific-gravity rating, so the wall is engineered to carry liquids far heavier than water. The black pigment blocks light to discourage algae growth in stored water, which is why this model turns up under searches for a black vertical storage tank rather than a translucent one.

Will it work for your site?

Plan your pad and plumbing around the real loads. Filled with water, the tank and contents weigh about 5,921 pounds; at its maximum 1.9 SG rating the contents can reach roughly 11,251 pounds. Size your concrete pad and any anchoring to whichever of 5,921 lb or 11,251 lb matches your actual liquid density, and keep the full 60-inch diameter fully supported. Because a black, opaque wall cannot be inspected by eye, the manway with 15-inch access is how you get inside a 68-inch-tall tank to clean and inspect it, so leave clearance above the top to open it. If you are still settling on capacity, run the numbers with our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide, and see our guide to concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks for the ACI framework.

Fittings and access

Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank is configured with a flange fitting, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented top opening, and a manway with 15-inch access. Before you order, match your inlet and outlet hardware to the flange bolt pattern and confirm you have the correct mating gasket, since a flanged connection is the most common install-day mismatch. Verify your fill and vent fittings thread into the 18-inch PE threaded opening, and check the fitting locations against the drawing before you set the tank, because relocating plumbing after placement is far harder than planning it up front.

A common mistake to avoid

Do not treat the 1.9 specific-gravity rating as headroom you have to fill. That rating tells you the wall can carry contents up to 1.9 times the weight of water, such as brine or other dense water-adjacent liquids, but it is not a license to skip freeboard. For fire-water reservoirs, cold-climate service, or heavier liquids, plan expansion and freeboard deliberately and match your foundation to the loaded weight. Our fire-water reservoir design guide and the freeboard sizing walkthrough cover the usable-volume math in detail.
