The Snyder Industries 710 Gallon ASTM XLPE Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank is a crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) vertical storage tank built for demanding water and heavy-liquid duty. It stands 68 inches tall on a 60 x 60 inch footprint and holds 710 gallons in a natural white shell that lets you read the liquid level at a glance. Rated to a 1.9 specific gravity, this tank is engineered to carry substantially denser contents than a standard 1.0 to 1.5 SG water tank, which is what puts it in the heavy-duty class.

Will it work for your site?

At 710 gallons, plain water fills this vertical storage tank to roughly 5,921 pounds, while the tank is rated for contents up to 11,251 pounds at its full 1.9 specific gravity. That roughly 5,300-pound delta between plain water and the maximum rated load is exactly the structural margin the crosslinked XLPE build buys you, because crosslinked polyethylene resists stress cracking under sustained heavy loads better than standard HDPE. The technical drawing on this page shows the factory fitting layout: a flange, an 18-inch PE threaded fitting, and a top manway with 15-inch access. That 15-inch opening is sized for inspection and mounting fill and vent hardware, not confined-space body entry. Use the 60 x 60 inch footprint to plan your pad, and run your gallon-per-day math through our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide before you commit to a size.

Venting, fittings, and sizing the pad

The 18-inch PE fitting on this tank is threaded and vented, and that vent is a discrete safety point worth planning around: a sealed poly tank on a fast fill or draw-down can implode or over-pressure if the vent is undersized or blocked, so keep the venting path clear for your transfer rate. The bolt-up gaskets and O-rings on the flange and manway are their own material decision, since XLPE's physical strength does not extend to the sealing hardware, so spec those to your stored liquid. Because this is a tall vertical tank concentrating over 11,000 pounds onto a 60-inch diameter, the pad is not optional: our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework for exactly this load. If you are weighing crosslinked against standard resin, our breakdown of Snyder XLPE vs HDPE explains when the crosslinking earns its place, and for rural fire-water reservoirs our fire-water reservoir design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing discipline.

The mistake to avoid

The common error on a heavy-duty XLPE tank is treating the 1.9 SG rating as a target rather than a ceiling. The rating tells you the tank structure can safely carry contents up to 1.9 times the density of water; it does not make XLPE chemically compatible with any liquid at that density. XLPE is a physical-strength choice, and crosslinked resin cannot be reworked or heat-welded the way HDPE can, so plan your penetrations around the factory openings already on the tank rather than cutting your own after the fact.

This Snyder vertical storage tank ships LTL freight from the Chowchilla, California plant, quoted live to your ZIP code. That is a single West Coast origin, so buyers east of the Rockies should treat freight as a real cost driver on long LTL lanes and get a number before committing. Pull a live quote with our Freight Cost Estimator or call 866-418-1777 to talk through your install. Freight is quoted separately and is not included in the list price.
