Process water, wash water and reserves

A 7,900 gallon tank is usually a buffer: make-up water for a process line, wash water at a truck or equipment yard, a reserve between a slow well and a fast demand, or rainwater collected off a large roof. Water is the design load for this wall, along with liquid fertilizers and solutions up to 1.5 specific gravity. For denser liquids, Snyder makes a heavy duty black version of this same shell, which we also list. The black wall keeps sunlight out, which stops algae and keeps the water clean between draws. Plan the site around the tank, not the other way round. The base is a 120 inch circle and, full of water, it puts 65,886 lb on the pad; pour that pad level, smooth and in full contact with the tank floor, and size it with our concrete pad sizing guide. At 177 inches tall it needs anchors in the slab and a fixed ladder to the manway. What to check before you buy

1. The volume. Check 7,900 gallons against your peak draw and refill rate with the tank sizing calculator, and read the tank sizing guide for how much reserve to keep.
2. The outlet. This page lists the manway and no bottom fitting. Tell us the pipe size and what the tank supplies, and we will confirm the outlet before anything is drilled. Connect to hard pipe with a flexible coupling, because a full tank settles slightly and the wall moves with temperature.
3. The temperature. 120 F is the limit. Keep hot process returns and condensate from feeding the tank above that.
4. Level reading. A black wall hides the level; fit a gauge or a sender you can read from the ground.
