Where it goes

The duty here is a light liquid in a building that will not take a taller tank: a treatment plant with a chemical room under a low deck, a food plant with a sanitizer or clean in place solution, a co-op with a fertilizer solution inside the 1.5 rating, a plant storing process or reclaimed water it wants kept dark. At 177 inches this shell goes where the taller 8,000 gallon shell does not, and the manway is still reached from a fixed platform rather than a stair tower. What to check before you buy

1. The rating. 1.5 specific gravity means liquids up to 1.5 times the weight of water. A heavier liquid belongs on the heavy duty wall in the same shell, linked below. Check the liquid against crosslinked polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide.
2. The outlet. The product data for 7370000N46 names the manway and no base fitting. Specify the liquid, the flow and the material at order and we confirm what the tank is supplied with before anything is cut. Take a flexible connector between the fitting and hard pipe and stand the first valve on its own support so pipe strain never reaches the wall.
3. Pump placement. A 177 inch column keeps the suction flooded well down the tank if the pump sits below the outlet with a short straight line. Set a low level cutout and test it once during commissioning rather than on the day it matters.
4. The manway and vent. An 18 inch threaded vented manway at 177 inches: fixed platform, permanent fill line, dip tube to the floor, vent outdoors on anything that fumes and sized to the delivery pump. Temperature limit: 140 F.
