Snyder Industries 7650 Gallon Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank

A tanker and a half without building a platform

A water plant that doses ferric by the tanker and does not want to build a platform to open the manway buys this tank over the tall ones at this volume. So does a food plant whose brine room has a ten foot ceiling, and a co-op with a dense fertilizer solution and a low shed. A full tanker goes in through a dip tube with room to spare, so the plant never has to time a delivery to the last gallon. Full of water it weighs 7,650 x 8.34 = 63,801 lb plus the tank, and a liquid at the 1.9 rating almost twice that, on a 142 inch circle; the slab is engineered per our concrete pad sizing guide and sits inside a berm sized to the tank. A low, wide tank has the lowest centre of gravity in its class and needs the least restraint; it still gets strapped before the first fill. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the wall. Ferric and sulfuric are hard on pumps that lose prime, and this tank never lets them: the outlet is at the base, the pump sits below it at pad level, and there is no lift from the first gallon to the last. Keep the suction line short and rising toward the pump so gas cannot collect in a high spot, put the strainer where it can be cleaned without draining the run, and add a low level float. Support the valve and the first pipe run off the pad and trace or insulate them where winters freeze.
2. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 122 inches up, reached from a step. Fill through a dip tube to the floor, pipe the vent outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for the truck's pump.
