Buying the 1.5 wall on purpose

What you do not save on is the ground. Then measure the roof for 186 inches plus working room above the manway, and band the shell to structure the day it lands, because a lighter empty tank standing fifteen and a half feet on a ten foot base is easier for a gust to move than a heavy-walled one in the same mold. Vent sizing, dip tube, and what the top of the tank owes you

• Vent: the listed opening is an 18 inch threaded, vented manway. Size the vent to the delivery pump, because air has to leave at the rate liquid arrives and return at the rate it is drawn off. This is the cheapest thing on a tank to get right and among the most expensive to get wrong, and it is the first thing to check when a lid seal keeps failing.
• Fill: a dip tube to the floor rather than a hose over the rim. Fifteen feet of free fall foams a headspace, splashes the upper wall and puts liquid exactly where the vapour already does the most damage, which the vapor-saturated headspace wall thickness article works through.
• Outlet: the sheet gives the outlet as one manway and lid, and lists no bottom fitting of any kind, in any size, material or thread, anywhere on it. The field is printed as it stands and nothing is invented around it. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off arrangement at order and we confirm what this shell takes before a hole is cut in it.
• Access and hardware as listed: eight lifting lugs, ladder lugs, two flange lines. An opening at 186 inches wants a permanent platform with a rail and a gate and a fill connection landed at the manway.
• Service limit: 140 F / 60 C. Warranty: 3 year. Rating: specific gravity 1.5 as the sheet gives it.

Since the sheet names no bottom connection, decide it deliberately instead of assuming it: the liquid, the flow rate and the pump you own set the arrangement, and it gets agreed before anything is drilled. Once it exists, the first valve sits on its own support off the pad with a flexible element between the tank and hard pipe, because a rigid run bolted to the shell hands it pipe weight, thermal movement and every pump start, and the shell is not a pipe anchor. Set a transfer pump below the connection so gravity keeps it primed, fit a low-level float so it never pumps air, keep the manway threaded shut between deliveries, keep one liquid to one tank with its name on the wall, and light the band above the liquid line every time the cover comes off. Where winters bite, the trace heat and insulation go on the base piping and the first valve, never on the body.
