Three tanks share this shell and the sheet separates them by weight: the 5360100N40 and 5360100N46 are listed at 2,000 pounds empty, while this molding and the 5360100N42 are listed at 2,400. Same 142 inch circle, same 146 inches of height, same 8,750 gallons, same manway, same plant, same freight class. What the extra four hundred pounds buys is wall, and what wall buys is density: this sheet rates it 1.9 and allows 138,652 pounds of contents where plain water in the same vessel is 72,975 pounds. If your liquid is genuinely heavier than water, that rating is the reason to be on this page, and the lighter walls, each rated as its own sheet says, are the cheaper buy for anything inside them. The shape is the other half of the argument and it is a good one. At 146 inches this tank stops at twelve feet two inches, which is the difference between fitting under a shed roof, a pipe rack or a low chemical building and not fitting at all, and the manway sits at a height a fixed platform reaches in a couple of steps rather than a full stair tower. The price of the low shape is floor: the circle is eleven feet ten inches across and every pound of contents bears on it, because a rotationally molded floor carries on its whole floor and on nothing else. So the slab is engineered to the concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside containment sized to the tank where a dense chemical is involved, and a wide tank on a pad with one low corner puts its weight on that corner. Band it anyway while it is empty; a low tank catches less wind than a tower but 2,400 pounds of empty shell still walks in a gust. Black hides the level, so a sender is the gauge. The wide 8,750 against the tall 8,500 and 8,900

Read the table as two questions. First the wall: four moldings in this one shell, two at 2,400 pounds and two at 2,000, each rated as its own sheet says, and this is one of the heavy pair for a dense liquid. Then the shape: the 7400000 tanks hold about the same liquid at 120 inches across and 194 inches tall, which is sixteen feet two inches, so they want a tall bay and a small pad where this tank wants a wide pad and almost no height. Between them there is no better or worse, only which constraint is real on your site, and it is worth measuring the purlin and the pad before the wall rating is even discussed. The 7400000C26 carries 8,900 gallons in that tall shell at the lightest empty weight in the table and is rated as its own sheet says.

A vented manway you can reach, and the outlet field the sheet gives

• Vent: the listed opening is an 18 inch threaded, vented manway, and it is the fitting that keeps a tank from fighting its own delivery. Pipe it outdoors on anything that fumes, keep the path clear, size it to the tanker's pump rather than to whichever port is nearest, and confirm it is clear before a delivery instead of after one.
• Fill: a permanent fill line landed at the manway, and a dip tube to the floor so a dense stream does not fall twelve feet two inches and splash the gasket seat and the headspace.
• Headspace: a low, wide tank has a large liquid surface and a large band of wall above it, and on a black shell none of it can be seen from outside, so that band gets a light every time the manway is open and the date goes on the log.
• Outlet: the sheet lists the outlet as 28 and gives no pipe size anywhere. That is printed as it stands, not read as a diameter. Tell us the liquid, its density and the draw-off you want at order and we confirm what this molding accepts, in what material, with what gasket, before anything is cut.
• Access: a ladder lug and two flange lines are what the sheet lists, with no lifting lug count on this sheet. At 146 inches the manway is reachable from a short fixed platform with a rail, which is the one real advantage of the low shape.
• Service limit: 140 F / 60 C. Warranty: 3 year. Rating: specific gravity 1.9 as the sheet gives it.

The low shape changes the pump conversation. Twelve feet two inches of liquid is less suction head than a tower gives, so a transfer pump goes below the outlet where gravity keeps it primed rather than beside it, and a low-level float stops it before it runs dry. It also changes the human factor, because a manway anyone can reach is a manway that gets opened too often; keep it threaded shut between deliveries and make each opening deliberate. Whatever is plumbed at the base sits on its own support off the pad with a flexible connector to hard pipe, label the wall with the one liquid inside, and where the site freezes, protect the outlet valve and the first pipe run rather than the body, which takes ice from the top down without harm.

Low buildings, dense liquid, and a wide pad

This is the tank for a site with floor and no ceiling: a chemical room under a low roof, a shed or pole building at a fertilizer dealer, a pad under a canopy, a plant with a pipe rack overhead, and any yard where a wide load is easier to place than a tall one is to strap. The 1.9 rating points it at the heavier end of the product list: a dense solution held through a season, a heavy process liquid at a metals or mining operation, a treatment chemical considerably denser than water at a water or wastewater plant. Nebraska origin, class 300, and an over-width deck load

The sheet gives class 300 and 2,400 pounds shipping weight from Lincoln, Nebraska. At 142 inches across, this shell is wider than a trailer and travels as a permitted over-width load on an open deck, which is the part of the cost people do not expect on a tank that is not especially tall or heavy; price the lane to your ZIP in the freight cost estimator before the requisition is cut, and read the listed price as before freight. Unloading is a crane or a large forklift with long forks, straps under the body and never a sling through the manway, onto a cured pad rather than onto gravel it will have to be dragged off later. Fill it with water to the manway, hold it, and walk the base and the pad edge twice, watching the low side of the slab in particular, then drain and dry it before a dense liquid arrives. On a wide tank the first thing to verify is that the pad is flat, not merely level; a dish or a crown shows up as a gap at the rim while the tank is filling, and that is the moment to stop. Chalk the full-water line on the outside after the first fill; it is the level every later reading gets checked against.
