The plant that buys the white 8,900 in the heavy wall

A water plant dosing ferric or alum by the tanker is the typical buyer: a couple of loads a month, a bay tall enough for a platform, and a chemical dense enough that the standard wall is the wrong wall. The delivery is a full tanker pumped off through a dip tube in under an hour, and the tank has to take that fill rate and the weight that follows, which is why the pad matters more than anything else on the site. Openings and fittings

1. Pump. Set it below the outlet at pad level, so sixteen feet of liquid keeps it flooded and it primes by gravity. A diaphragm metering pump hates suction lift, and this tank gives it none; add a calibration column, a strainer for the scale a dense chemical drops as it cools, and a low level float that stops the pump before it draws air.
2. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the wall. Support the valve and the first pipe run off the pad, and trace or insulate them where winters freeze; the body ices from the top down without harm.
3. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 194 inches up: a platform with a rail for whoever opens it, a dip tube for the fill, and a vent sized for the truck's pump and piped outdoors on a fuming liquid.
