The dense end of the 5360100 mold

Its lighter sibling, the 5360100N40, is the same 142 by 146 inch shell at 2,000 pounds empty with a lighter rating on its own sheet; this one carries more wall, weighs 2,400 pounds, and the sheet allows 138,652 pounds of contents on a 1.9 rating. The question is therefore not shape but density: take this molding when the liquid is genuinely heavier than water and the building will not take a tall tank, and take the lighter one when it is not. A brine, a concentrate or a heavy process solution is what the extra wall is for. Then the pad, which on a wide tank is the largest line item in the install. A rotationally molded floor bears on its own floor and on nothing else, so every pound is carried by a 142 inch circle: 72,975 pounds with plain water in it, 138,652 pounds if the liquid works the rating. The top four rows are one mold in two weights. This molding and the 5360100N48 are the 2,400 pound pair; the 5360100N40 and 5360100N46 are the 2,000 pound pair, each rated as its own sheet says, and between the two pairs the only question is the density of what goes in. The last two rows are the same volume class in the opposite shape: the 7400000N40 and 7400000C26 stand 194 inches on a 120 inch base, which is the trade every buyer in this size makes once. Floor or ceiling, pick the one your building can spare, and note that a wide tank asks for more slab while a tall one asks for more strapping and a platform. A vent on a wide tank fills and empties fast

• Vent and fill, first: the listed opening is an 18 inch threaded, vented manway, and the vent gets sized to the delivery pump. A wide tank changes level slowly, which fools people into thinking the air moves slowly too, and it does not: the same tanker volume goes in and the same volume of air has to get out. An undersized vent pressurises a shell built for atmosphere.

• Outlet: the sheet lists the outlet as 28. That is the field as published and it is not a pipe size; no bottom fitting diameter, material, thread or gasket appears anywhere on this sheet and we invent none. Name the liquid and the draw-off arrangement at order and we confirm what this shell accepts before anything is cut.
• Access and hardware as listed: ladder lugs and two flange lines. An opening 146 inches up is still overhead work, so a platform with a rail, and a permanent fill connection landed at the manway.

A low tank gives a base connection less head to work with than a tower does, which matters twice. Draw-off is slower for the same connection size, so a transfer pump goes below the outlet where gravity keeps it primed, with a low-level float to stop it before it pulls air rather than letting the pump's own suction find the bottom. And the first valve still rides on its own support off the pad with a flexible element between the tank and hard pipe, because a dense liquid at this rating is heavy regardless of how tall the column is, and nothing rigid should ever bolt to the shell. Keep the manway threaded shut between deliveries, keep one liquid to one tank with its name on the wall, and where the site freezes put the trace heat on the base piping and the first valve, not on the body.

Heavy solutions under a low roof

The buyer for this molding is a plant with a dense liquid and a building that will not take height: a brine or concentrate room in an older water plant, a process solution at a manufacturer whose chemical bay was built for drums, a co-op storing a heavy fertilizer solution under a shed roof, a dosing skid that needs bulk storage beside it rather than above it. Plain water at 8.34 pounds per gallon sits far inside this rating and if water is the whole duty then the lighter wall in the same mold is the better buy.
