Norwesco Cone Bottom Tanks
Norwesco cone bottom tanks are polyethylene tanks with a cone-shaped bottom that drains to a single outlet, so the tank empties completely. They range from 55 gallons up to 10,000 gallons. Standard tanks are natural white and rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity. Heavy duty tanks are light blue and rated to 1.9 specific gravity, and some sizes also come in black.
What people use them for
- Mixing and batching fertilizer and farm chemicals
- Holding liquids that carry solids, so they drain out instead of settling
- Rinse and process tanks that need to empty all the way between batches
Cone angles and stands
Norwesco makes cones at 15, 20, 30 and 45 degrees. A steeper cone helps thicker liquids and solids slide to the outlet. Every cone bottom tank needs a stand, and you buy it one of two ways:
- Tank with poly stand. The tank comes set in a black polyethylene stand, from 125 to 3,000 gallons. The 175 and 300 gallon 30 degree tanks are sold only this way.
- Tank only, steel stand sold separately. The Tank Stand line on each product page names the steel stand that fits. You can also shop Tank Stands.
Sizes and features
Tanks up to 1,720 gallons have a 2 inch outlet at the bottom of the cone, and the tanks from 4,950 to 10,000 gallons have a 3 inch outlet. Fittings ship uninstalled unless the tank is bought assembled with a poly stand. Check each product's specifications for the exact diameter, height, cone angle and stand part number.
Before you order
- Order the stand. A cone bottom tank can't sit on the ground. Choose a tank with a poly stand, or add the steel stand listed on the tank page.
- Check the height. The stand raises the tank, so check the overall height and the clearance under the cone.
- Know your liquid. If it weighs more than 12.52 lbs per gallon (1.5 specific gravity), choose a light blue heavy duty tank.
- Not for fuel. Don't use these tanks for gasoline, diesel or any other fuel.
Questions we get
Why can't I buy the 175 or 300 gallon 30 degree tank alone?
The tank is easily damaged in shipping without its stand, so we sell those two sizes only as a tank and poly stand unit.
