The Snyder Industries 5000 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank is a high-capacity vertical tank molded in high density linear polyethylene, standing 154 inches tall on a 102-inch-diameter footprint. It ships without a fitting installed, so you drill and plumb the bulkhead placement your site needs. With a 1.9 specific gravity rating, an 18-inch lid, and a 120 F / 48 C maximum service temperature, it is built for demanding liquid storage where a standard 1.0 or 1.5 SG shell would be under-rated. Empty weight is 1,150 lb, and it meets Snyder cert designations 2285 and 2282.

Will it work for your site

This is a full-strength vertical liquid storage tank, not a light-duty water-only shell. The 1.9 specific gravity rating means the wall thickness is engineered to hold liquids up to 1.9 times the density of water — the maximum rated contents weight is 79,230 lb, versus 41,700 lb when filled with plain water at 5,000 gallons. That headroom matters if you are storing anything heavier than water. Two ceilings define the envelope: verify your liquid stays at or below 1.9 SG and under the 120 F / 48 C service temperature — a heated or exothermic liquid can disqualify an otherwise-in-spec fill. The 102-inch diameter sets your pad size: pour a level, full-diameter reinforced concrete pad, since a vertical tank of this height and fill weight loads the base hard and will not tolerate an uneven or undersized footing. The 18-inch lid gives access for level sensors and inspection. Because it arrives without a fitting, confirm your outlet height, bulkhead size, and gasket elastomer — matched to your stored liquid, not just to water — before install, and use our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to lock in placement.

The mistake to avoid

Do not treat the 1.9 SG rating as an invitation to skip the pad or the density math. At 1.9 SG this is effectively the top of the poly range, so the shell is over-specified for plain water — a pure-water buyer filling to only 41,700 lb against a 79,230 lb rating is paying for wall thickness they will never load, and a standard 1.0 or 1.5 SG version would serve better. If you are here for genuinely heavy liquid, the rule holds in reverse: confirm the liquid stays at or under 1.9 specific gravity and under 120 F. Either way, a 5000 gallon vertical tank is stable only on a full-diameter, level, load-rated foundation — the single most common failure on tanks this size is a partial or settling pad. See the technical drawing on this page for the tank profile and lid location before you set anchor points.

Freight

This 5000 gallon Snyder vertical tank ships LTL from the Arkansas plant, freight quoted live to your ZIP — get your number from the Freight Cost Estimator or call 866-418-1777. For sizing and application depth, our 5000 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank Buyer's Guide covers vertical tank placement (note that listed dimensions vary by mold, so match against this SKU's 154" x 102" profile), and our fire-water reservoir design guide walks through NFPA 22 sizing and cold-climate freeze protection.
