The Norwesco 6500 Gallon Plastic Water Storage Tank is a vertical polyethylene tank built for serious bulk-water capacity at a single point. It stands 150 inches tall on a 119-inch diameter footprint, holding 6,500 gallons of water in one upright cylinder while keeping its ground contact to a 119-inch circle. If you are sizing a vertical storage tank for fire reserve, irrigation supply, hauled-water buffering, or industrial process water, this is the high-volume Norwesco water storage tank people search for when they need real capacity without spreading across multiple smaller tanks.

Will it work for your site?

The numbers that drive your install are on the technical drawing on this page: 6,500 gallon capacity, 150-inch height, 119-inch diameter. The polyethylene shell carries a specific gravity rating of 1.0, the standard rating for water and any contents no heavier than water. Filled to capacity this tank reaches about 54,210 pounds of contents, and that full water weight is the load your foundation has to carry. Over a 119-inch-diameter footprint (about 77 square feet), that works out to roughly 487 pounds per square foot of bearing pressure on the pad before you add tank tare. That is the number your slab and your soil bearing capacity have to handle. Confirm the dimensions against your space with our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide, and work the foundation through our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks before you pour. The factory outlet, bulkhead, and manway schedule is on the technical drawing on this page; confirm fitting sizes and gasket material at order so your connections are nailed down before delivery, not at the last minute.

The mistake to avoid

The specific gravity rating of 1.0 is the one number people skip. It means this shell is rated for contents up to the weight of water, about 8.34 pounds per gallon. Store anything denser than water, and this is the wrong tank: brine, most fertilizers, and most chemicals run heavier than water and need a tank rated to 1.5 or 1.9 SG. A higher-SG model is the right path for those contents, so call us at 866-418-1777 and we will size the correct SG rating before you commit. Stay with water and you are well inside the rating, but plan for the real load. After the tank is set and before you put it into service, a controlled water fill proves the pad and the connections; see our guide on hydrostatic test methodology for new-install tank acceptance for fill discipline, pad-settlement monitoring, and fitting leak detection.

Built for high-volume water roles

At 6,500 gallons this tank sits at the larger end of bulk water work. It is a common backbone for rural and remote fire-water reserve, where a single large reservoir does the job of a private fire-protection stack; see our deep dive on fire-water reservoir tank design for rural and remote sites. It also anchors water-reuse and aggregation trains for grey-water, rainwater, and HVAC condensate; our guide on industrial water reuse tank topology shows where a tank this size fits in the larger system.

This tank ships LTL freight from the Norwesco plant in Hanford, CA, with freight quoted live to your ZIP. A 150-inch-tall, 119-inch-diameter unit is an oversize load on long lanes to the East and Midwest, and you will need offload equipment on site for a tank this large, so plan delivery access ahead of time. Get your real freight number with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will work out the freight and confirm the right tank for your site.
