The Norwesco 1035 Gallon Elliptical Leg Tank (N-40191) is a polyethylene transport tank built for moving liquid loads down the road and across the field. Its elliptical cross-section sits low and wide on integrated legs, keeping the center of gravity down for hauling on a trailer or skid. With a 1.5 specific gravity rating, this Norwesco elliptical leg tank is engineered to carry liquids up to 1.5 times the density of water, which is what separates a haul-duty applicator tank from a plain water tank.

Does it work for your load?

Full of water, the tank holds 1,035 gallons weighing roughly 8,632 lb. The structure is rated to carry contents up to 12,948 lb, and that headroom is exactly what the 1.5 SG rating buys you over a 1.0 water-only tank: validation to hold a liquid up to 1.5 times water density at full volume. That is why denser field solutions belong in a tank like this rather than a standard water tank. Before you commit to a chemical or blend, multiply your liquid's density by the volume you intend to carry and check it against that 12,948 lb ceiling, then use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the tank suits your spreader or trailer setup. Refer to the technical drawing on this page for dimensions and leg layout.

Chemical compatibility

This is an HDLPE polyethylene tank with a 1.5 specific gravity rating. The resin is listed as "HDLPE?" and should be confirmed with Norwesco before any chemical fill — verify HDLPE versus XLPE (cross-linked) for your specific chemical, because the two resins behave differently in long-term chemical contact. On a leg/applicator tank, resin choice gates chemical service, so treat resin confirmation as a pre-purchase step: call us at 866-418-1777 to nail it down before you order. Compatibility below is drawn from the Norwesco chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific; match it to your actual service conditions.

At the 1.5 SG rating, this tank is suited to the following chemicals at the listed concentrations, using the indicated fitting and gasket materials:

Note the DEF line: it is the only compatible chemical on this list that calls for 316 stainless fittings rather than PVC, paired with EPDM gaskets. If you are plumbing this tank for diesel exhaust fluid, do not reuse PVC fittings — spec stainless to avoid a wrong-fitting purchase.

One mistake to avoid: several common field chemicals are not a match for this 1.5 SG tank and require a higher 1.9 SG tank instead, each with its own fitting and gasket pairing:

If your service chemical is on that higher-SG list, do not put it in this 1.5 SG tank. See the full chemical compatibility reference and confirm both the tank SG and your gasket choice for the chemical you are running.
