A 1235 gallon black elliptical leg tank for a long trailer deck
The Norwesco 1235 gallon black elliptical leg tank, part number 40752, is a low profile polyethylene transport tank 128 inches long, 66 inches wide and 53 inches tall, weighing 364 lb empty. It is the longest and lowest of the elliptical tanks near this size: the extra length buys a lower top, which keeps the centre of gravity down on a trailer and keeps the manway reachable from the deck. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. On a trailer or a nurse rig
At 128 inches long the tank wants a gooseneck, a tandem axle or a flatbed truck; it is too long for a pickup bed. At 66 inches wide it leaves room beside it on an 8 foot deck for a pump, a hose reel and a chemical inductor, and at 53 inches tall it stays below the line of sight from most cabs. Full of water it weighs about 10300 lb and more with fertilizer, so the trailer's axle and hitch ratings set the limit. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the end wall. A 2 inch ball valve and camlock thread straight in. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, 53 inches up: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and clean through. Keep the vent clear so the tank breathes as the load sloshes.
