What to check before you buy
- The hole. The tank is 157 inches long and 69 inches wide, so the excavation is long and narrow with room around it for bedding and compaction. The 51 inch height plus the cover your code requires sets the depth. Check that depth against the sewer line leaving the house: the inlet has to sit below the line with fall to spare.
- Inlet and outlet. Both are 4 inch gasket and tee assemblies. The tee at the inlet drops incoming flow below the scum layer; the tee at the outlet draws from the clear zone. Your 4 inch sewer pipe connects to each through the gasket.
- Access. One 20 inch manway. Most codes require access at grade for pumping, so plan on a riser and lid to bring the opening to the surface; tell us the burial depth and we will quote the riser height with the tank.
- Groundwater. An empty polyethylene tank in wet ground floats. Follow Norwesco's installation instructions on bedding, backfill and filling, and never leave the tank pumped empty when the water table is high.
