The Norwesco 135 gallon black elliptical leg tank, part number 45865, is the smallest of Norwesco's low profile transport tanks: a polyethylene tank 56 inches long, 36 inches wide and 26 inches tall, weighing 46 lb empty. The elliptical shape keeps the load low, so it rides in a pickup bed, on a UTV rack or on a small sprayer frame without making the vehicle top heavy. It comes with a 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the outlet, fitted with a siphon tube so the tank empties from a side mounted port, and an 8 inch threaded vented lid on top. It is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and many common chemicals; 135 gallons of water weighs 1126 lb. Where it rides
At 56 by 36 inches it fits across a full size pickup bed, between the wheel wells on most beds, and leaves room behind it. At 26 inches tall it sits below the bed rail on most trucks, which is why this size is the usual choice for a slide-in spot sprayer or a water tank that stays in the bed all season. Full of water it weighs over 1100 lb, within the payload of a half ton pickup but worth checking on a UTV. What goes in it
Spray water, herbicide mixes, liquid fertilizer and stock water are the normal loads. Check anything else in our chemical compatibility guide first; the entries for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, propylene glycol and hydrogen peroxide are the ones small tank buyers ask about most. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube. The fitting sits in the wall above the bottom and the tube reaches down to the low point, so the tank drains almost completely through a port that is easy to plumb to a pump. Your valve or hose barb threads straight into the 1-1/4 inch opening.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: big enough to fill from a hose, to pour a jug of concentrate in, and to see the level. Keep the vent clear so the pump does not pull a vacuum on the tank.
