A 235 gallon black elliptical leg tank for the back of a pickup
The Norwesco 235 gallon black elliptical leg tank, part number 44806B, is a low profile polyethylene transport tank 66 inches long, 40 inches wide and 32 inches tall, weighing 81 lb empty. The elliptical shape keeps the load low and wide, so it rides in a pickup bed or on a small trailer without making the vehicle top heavy. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the outlet, fitted with a siphon tube so the tank drains from a side mounted port, and an 8 inch threaded vented lid on top. It is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and many common chemicals; 235 gallons of water weighs 1960 lb. In a pickup bed
At 66 by 40 inches it fits lengthways in a full size pickup bed, and at 40 inches wide it drops between the wheel wells on most beds; measure between the wells to be sure. At 32 inches tall it sits at or just above the bed rail. Full of water the load is close to 2000 lb, which is at or past the payload of many half ton pickups, so read the sticker on the door before the first fill and do not top it off with fertilizer on a truck that is marginal with water. Strap it through the moulded leg recesses, never over the lid, and give every leg a flat surface to sit on. What goes in it
Water to stock or a remote job, spray mixes and liquid fertilizer are the normal loads. Check anything else in our chemical compatibility guide first; the entries for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and sodium hypochlorite are the ones pickup tank buyers ask about most. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube. The fitting sits in the wall above the bottom and the tube reaches the low point, so the tank drains almost completely through a port that is easy to plumb to a pump or a gravity hose. A 2 inch ball valve and camlock thread straight in.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: big enough to fill from a hose and to pour concentrate in. Keep the vent clear so the pump does not pull a vacuum on the tank.
