The Norwesco 1500 gallon preplumbed two compartment septic tank, part number 43502, is a green polyethylene tank 157 inches long, 69 inches wide and 51 inches tall, weighing 581 lb empty, the heaviest of the four 1500 gallon low profile tanks because of the internal baffle wall. The two compartments settle solids in the first chamber and pass clearer liquid to the second, which is the design most residential codes now call for. The 4 inch inlet and 4 inch outlet come with their adapters and PVC tee assemblies already fitted, and access is a 20 inch gasketed manway. Norwesco lists the tank as IAPMO approved, rates it to 130 F, and backs it with a 5 year warranty. Full of water it holds 12510 lb.

Openings, plumbing and what to check before you buy
- Inlet and outlet. 4 inch each, adapter with PVC tee assembly, fitted at the factory. Your 4 inch building sewer and outlet line connect straight on. Confirm the invert heights on the drawing against your pipe grades before the hole is dug; the inlet must sit higher than the outlet so flow crosses the baffle the right way.
- The manway. One 20 inch gasketed manway. Plan a riser to grade so the tank can be pumped and the baffle inspected without digging.
