15500 Gallon Blue Heavy Duty Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where the footprint is tight and the height is free

This is the tank for a site that cannot spread out: a chemical feed room with a wall of tanks, a containment bay built to a fixed plan, a yard where every square foot is spoken for. It gives you more volume per square foot of pad than the wider tanks of similar capacity, and pays for it in height, in the lift needed to stand it up and in the ladder or platform needed to reach the manway. Measure the overhead first: the tank is 244 inches tall standing, and the crane needs room above that to set it. The heavy duty rating is for dense liquids, fertilizer solutions, brine, coagulants and acids; if your liquid is at or under 1.5 specific gravity, the standard versions linked below weigh less and cost less. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals; confirm anything aggressive against the material before you order. Openings, fittings and what to check before you buy

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the sidewall. On a tank this tall the head pressure at the outlet is higher than on a squat tank of the same volume, so the valve and the first length of pipe need their own support and a rating to match.
2. Manway. A 22 inch threaded vented manway on top. At 244 inches up it needs a fixed ladder or platform for anyone who will open it; plan that with the pad.
3. The pad. A 141 inch circle carrying up to 245613 lb puts more load per square foot on the slab than a wider tank does. Our note on concrete pad sizing for above ground polyethylene tanks sets out the framework your engineer will use.
4. Wind and seismic. A tall narrow tank that is ever less than full is the one that needs restraint reviewed. Tell us if the site is in a wind or seismic zone and we will point you to Norwesco's guidance.

Shipping and receiving

The tank ships on its side as an oversize load, 244 by 141 by 141 inches and 4160 lb, from Norwesco's Hanford, California plant. The listed price is before freight; the freight cost estimator gives the lane cost to your ZIP. Unloading and standing the tank up are yours: a crane with slings and a tag line, never forks against the shell. At the tailgate, check the part number against 43943, walk the shell for transit damage, and fill with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless inside.
