Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch 316 stainless steel female NPT bolted fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. With twenty feet of liquid above it, the bolted stainless fitting is the hardware for the job. Your 3 inch valve threads straight in. Support the valve and the first run of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 22 inch threaded vented manway on top, 244 inches up: fill point, vent and a wide opening for a pump drop, a float or a cleaning crew's gear.

4. Liquid. Water and most liquid fertilizers sit inside the 1.5 specific gravity rating. For heavier liquids Norwesco makes a 1.9 rated version of this shell, listed below. The tank ships as oversize freight (Norwesco's freight class is OVS) from Norwesco's Hanford, California plant, 244 by 141 by 141 inches lying down on the truck and 4114 lb. It travels on an open trailer and needs a forklift or a loader with forks rated for the weight, a crew with straps, and room to stand a twenty foot tank up beside its pad; for a tank this tall, many sites bring in a crane or a telehandler for the lift.
