The Norwesco 1625 gallon black horizontal leg tank, part number 40830, is a polyethylene transport and storage tank 139 inches long, 63 inches wide and 68 inches tall, weighing 449 lb empty. On a trailer or the ground
At 139 inches long the tank takes most of a tandem axle trailer or a flatbed, and at 63 inches wide it leaves a walkway down one side of an 8 foot deck. Full of water it weighs close to seven tons before the trailer, so the axle and hitch ratings, not the tank, decide what tows it. A tank this long flexes on a moving deck, so strap it through the moulded leg recesses with the support bands Norwesco makes for it, listed in the add-ons box on this page, and never over the manway. On the ground, it needs a flat, continuous surface under every leg, because a long tank on a dip carries its weight on the legs at each end. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the end wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in as you draw down; do not seal it.
