An 1800 gallon white leg tank for a truck, a trailer or a pad
The Norwesco 1800 gallon white horizontal leg tank, part number 42990, is a polyethylene transport and storage tank 146 inches long, 62 inches wide and 68 inches tall, weighing 586 lb empty. The moulded legs let it sit flat on a truck frame, a trailer deck or a slab without a cradle, and the narrow 62 inch width is what lets a tank this size fit between the wheel wells of a flatbed. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. Norwesco rates the tank for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which is 12.52 lb per gallon, and a service limit of 120 F, states the resin is FDA compliant, and backs the tank with a 3 year warranty. Full of water it holds 15012 lb; at the 1.5 rating, 22518 lb. White lets you see the level through the wall in daylight.

On a truck, a trailer or the ground
Sixty eight inches of height is the number that decides this purchase. It is tall enough that a standard personnel door is out and a roller door is the usual answer, so measure the header on the way to the pad and the bridge heights on the way to the field. On a vehicle, strap the tank through the leg recesses, never over the manway, and band it: Norwesco calls for 4 bands (part N-62852) and 1 connecting bar (part N-63653) on this tank, and we put them on the same order so they arrive with it. Full, the tank puts over seven tons on the deck with water and more with fertilizer, so the trailer's rating, the hitch and the tie-downs are the limit, not the shell. On the ground it needs a flat, continuous surface under the full 146 inch length of the legs; on a floor that slopes for drainage, pack to level rather than letting the legs find their own bearing. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the end wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. Keep the vent clear; a sealed tank collapses on draw-down.
