The Norwesco 1720 gallon 15 degree cone bottom tank in light blue, part number 44424, is a high density linear polyethylene tank 91 inches in diameter and 78 inches tall, weighing 314 lb empty. A cone bottom tank drains itself completely: the floor slopes to a single low point, so settled solids and the last few gallons leave through the outlet instead of sitting in a flat bottom. The 15 degree cone is the shallow one, which keeps the tank short for the volume. This is the heavy duty version, rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity, so it takes dense fertilizers and chemicals that a standard tank cannot. It comes with a 2 inch outlet at the cone and a 16 inch lid on top, with a service limit of 120 F. The resin is FDA compliant per Norwesco. The tank needs a stand, sold separately: Norwesco's part N-64090. Full of water it holds about 14300 lb; at the full 1.9 rating, about 27300 lb.

What a cone bottom tank is for
Mixing and batching liquid fertilizer, holding chemicals that settle or crystallize, process tanks that must empty fully between batches, and any job where leaving an inch of product in the bottom costs money or contaminates the next load. The shallow 15 degree cone suits liquids that flow freely; thick slurries and anything that cakes want a steeper cone. The stand, the openings and what to check before you buy
- The stand. A cone bottom tank cannot stand on its own. Norwesco pairs this tank with stand N-64090, sold separately; the angle must match the 15 degree cone, and a 30 degree stand will not do. Our cone bottom stand compatibility matrix lists the pairings.
- Outlet. A 2 inch outlet at the point of the cone. Your valve goes on before the first fill. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware, and leave room under the stand for them.
- Lid. A 16 inch lid on top for filling, a mixer or a level sensor, and access for cleaning.
- The liquid. The 1.9 rating covers liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water at up to 120 F. If everything you store is near the weight of water, the standard white version of this tank is enough.
- The floor. The stand needs a flat, level, continuous surface; a full tank on a stand is a concentrated load, and the floor rating belongs to your engineer.
