The Norwesco 2500 Gallon 30 Degree Cone Bottom Tank (SKU N-40066) is a white polyethylene cone bottom tank built for full-drain chemical and process service. It holds 2,500 gallons, stands 105 inches tall on a 96 x 96 inch footprint, and carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating - the load rating that governs which chemicals it can safely hold. The 30-degree cone floor gravity-drains solids and sediment toward the outlet, so it suits batching, settling, and mixing duty where leaving residue behind is not an option.

Will it work for your application?

Match your liquid's weight to the tank's rating before you commit. A full 2,500 gallons of water weighs about 20,850 pounds, and at the 1.5 specific gravity ceiling the tank is rated to carry up to 31,275 pounds of contents. Any liquid heavier than 1.5 SG exceeds what this shell is built to support - that is the single most common and most expensive cone bottom mistake. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and our Tank Sizing Guide to confirm your fill weight against your stand and pad before ordering. A cone bottom tank requires a matching stand or structural support, since the cone floor cannot rest on flat ground.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded from polyethylene with a 1.5 specific gravity rating, which makes it the standard-duty shell - not the heavy-duty 1.9 SG version. Lead your compatibility decisions off that confirmed 1.5 SG rating and the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific. The resin classification is recorded as HDLPE but is not yet confirmed: verify HDLPE versus XLPE (cross-linked) with us at 866-418-1777 before placing any chemical into service, since the two resins differ in chemical resistance. As a rule, most compatible chemicals here use PVC or PP fittings with EPDM gaskets - DEF is the exception, calling for 316 stainless fittings. The following are compatible at the listed concentrations when paired with the correct fitting and gasket materials:

Several heavier chemicals are chemically compatible with polyethylene but exceed this tank's 1.5 SG rating and require the 1.9 specific gravity version of this tank line instead: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Note that the oxidizers and strong acids in this group - sodium hypochlorite, sulfuric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, phosphoric, peracetic, and hydrogen peroxide - need Viton or Aflas gaskets rather than EPDM. If your chemical is in this group, request the 1.9 SG version of this tank line and confirm your chemical, concentration, and fittings against our Chemical Compatibility Database and the OEM chart before ordering.

Verify before you order

See the technical drawing on this page for fitting and outlet locations, and confirm them against your plumbing plan. For the deeper trade-offs between 15, 30, and 45-degree cones, read our Norwesco Cone Bottom Tank Buyer's Guide and the 2500 Gallon 30 Degree Cone Bottom Tank buyer's guide; if you need the integrated poly stand, see the version with poly stand.

This is an oversized LTL freight item - 105 inches tall and rated to 31,275 pounds of contents - so it ships LTL quoted live to your ZIP from the nearest of three Norwesco plants (Griffin, GA; Hanford, CA; or Lancaster, OH) to keep freight down. The tank is listed at its list price before freight; get a freight quote to your ZIP with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 to confirm resin, fittings, and freight before you buy.
