An 1800 gallon leg tank with a sump bottom that drains all the way
The Norwesco 1800 gallon horizontal leg tank with sump bottom, part number 42992, is a white polyethylene transport and storage tank 146 inches long, 62 inches wide and 72 inches tall, weighing 586 lb empty. The sump is the difference from a plain leg tank: the floor dips to a low point at the outlet, so the tank empties completely instead of leaving a few gallons sloshing in the bottom. That matters when the next load is a different product, or when what is left behind costs money. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the sump and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. The tank is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and many common chemicals, with a service limit of 120 F. The resin is FDA compliant per Norwesco, and Norwesco backs the tank with a 3 year warranty. Full of water it holds about 15000 lb. On a trailer, a skid or the ground
Liquid fertilizer nurse tanks, water for a sprayer, and transport of any compatible liquid between a yard and a field are the usual jobs. The moulded legs let the tank sit flat on a trailer deck or a skid without a cradle, and the 146 by 62 inch footprint fits along a gooseneck or tandem axle trailer. Full, the load is close to 15000 lb of water before the tank, so the trailer's axle ratings, not the tank, set the limit. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm chemicals that polyethylene handles. Before anything else goes in, check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide; the entries for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and phosphoric acid are the ones leg tank buyers ask about most. Openings, fittings and bands
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the sump, the lowest point of the tank. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside.
- Bands. Four bands, part N-62852, and one connecting bar, part N-63653, hold the tank to a trailer or skid. They are not included with the tank; order them with it. Strap through the band system, never over the manway.
- The sump. The sump hangs below the leg line, so the deck or skid needs a clear pocket under it. The drawing shows how far it projects.
