The Norwesco 200 gallon applicator saddle tank, part number 45059, is a white polyethylene tank 62 inches long, 32 inches wide and 35 inches tall, weighing 63 lb empty. A saddle tank hangs on a frame at the side of a tractor or on a planter or sprayer toolbar and carries liquid fertilizer or spray mix to the field with the implement, so nothing has to be towed. Where it goes
Starter fertilizer on a planter, in-furrow and pop-up product on a toolbar, and spray mix for a mounted sprayer are the jobs, and 200 gallons a side is the size for a wide planter that would otherwise stop to refill mid-field. Pick this long, low shape when the frame runs along the side of the tractor and height is what you are short of; pick the short, deep 200 gallon saddle when the frame has little length. Full of water it carries 1668 lb on top of the 63 lb tank, and a pair carries double that, so the frame and the tractor's rating decide the pairing, not the tank. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizer, water and the common farm chemicals that polyethylene handles. Before anything goes in, check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide; the entries for urea solution, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, DEF and phosphoric acid are the ones saddle tank buyers ask about most. The 1.5 rating means a liquid up to 1.5 times the weight of water, 12.52 lb per gallon; most starter fertilizers sit under that, but check the density of yours. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. Your shutoff valve or hose barb threads straight into it. On a long tank, route the hose so it is supported along the frame and the fitting carries liquid, not the weight of hardware bouncing over a field.
- Inlet. None. Fill through the lid, or add your own bulkhead fitting for a plumbed fill; dry-fit it before tightening.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid, wide enough to fill from a hose and to get a hand inside to rinse.
