The Norwesco 2635 gallon horizontal elliptical leg tank in white, part number 40547, is a polyethylene transport and storage tank 140 inches long, 90 inches wide and 72 inches tall, weighing 830 lb empty. On a trailer or in the yard
At 140 by 90 inches the tank needs a trailer deck or a cradle that supports the full length of the moulded legs. Full, it is a load of eleven to sixteen tons depending on the liquid, and every pound of it goes through the legs into whatever is underneath. On a trailer, the frame and the running gear are rated for the liquid you actually carry, not for water, and the tank is strapped through the leg recesses with the straps bearing on the body, never on the manway. In the yard, the tank sits on a level, continuous cradle or pad that touches every leg, with room at the outlet end for the valve and the hose. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Before anything else goes in, check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide; the entries for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and phosphoric acid are the ones leg tank buyers ask about most. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the end wall, supplied with a 2 inch reducer. Run it at 3 inches for fast transfer to a sprayer or an applicator, or thread the reducer in and use 2 inch hose and a 2 inch valve. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in as the pump draws down, so keep it clear.
