The Norwesco 2635 Gallon Horizontal Elliptical Leg Tank in White is a polyethylene haul tank built for moving liquid on a frame or transport skid. At 140 inches long by 90 inches wide and 72 inches tall, it carries a 90.0 x 140.0 inch footprint and a 1.5 specific gravity rating, which is the number that decides what you can legally and safely put inside it. This is a horizontal leg tank from Norwesco, and its elliptical cross-section keeps the load low and stable while you are rolling down the road.

Will this tank handle your load?

Run the weight math before you build the trailer. Filled with water, this tank holds roughly 21,976 pounds of contents; at its full 1.5 SG rating it is engineered to carry up to 32,964 pounds of liquid. Those are contents weights only - the empty (dry) tank weight is on the technical drawing on this page and confirmed at quote, so add it to your frame, axles, and tongue when you size the running gear. Because this is a transport tank, the elliptical shape and integrated legs keep the center of gravity manageable, but you still own the chassis, the tie-downs, and the road-legal weight rating. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm your gallons-to-weight before you commit to a build.

Chemical compatibility

For haul crews, the strongest fit here is diesel exhaust fluid and liquid fertilizer: this tank is rated for DEF at 32.5% (316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets) and Urea Solution at 50% (PP/PVC, EPDM), which is exactly what a nurse or applicator tank gets asked to carry. The tank is polyethylene with a 1.5 specific gravity rating; the resin reads as HDLPE, so confirm HDLPE versus XLPE with us before chemical service - crosslinked and linear polyethylene behave differently with some loads. At the 1.5 SG rating it is also rated for Acetic Acid at 60% (PP/PVC, EPDM), Aluminum Sulfate at 50% (PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride at 40% (PVC, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate at 20% (PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate at 30% (PVC, EPDM), and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). This tank ships without chemical-service fittings - the PVC, PP, 316SS, and CPVC fittings and EPDM or Viton gaskets listed per chemical are sourced to match your load, so call 866-418-1777 to spec them.

The mistake to avoid: do not assume the 1.5 SG tank covers everything. Several common loads need a higher 1.9 SG tank instead, including Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Hydrochloric Acid (Viton gaskets), Hydrogen Peroxide (Viton gaskets), Phosphoric Acid (Viton gaskets), Sodium Hypochlorite (Viton gaskets), and Sulfuric Acid (CPVC fittings, Viton). If your load is on that 1.9 SG list, this is the wrong rating - call 866-418-1777 for the 1.9 SG equivalent before you fill. Always cross-check your exact concentration and temperature against the OEM chemical-resistance chart, since compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific, and browse the full chemical compatibility reference before you fill.
