Norwesco makes this 48 inch body in more than one rating and colour, and the choice is the liquid, not the look. For water, rainwater and anything no heavier than 1.5 times water, the standard tanks do the job: the 500 gallon white standard tank or the 500 gallon black standard tank. Where it goes and what goes in it
The tank stands on a flat, level, continuous pad at least 48 inches across, with no slope, joint or drain under the floor; nearly four tons of liquid go through that floor when the tank is full of a 1.9 liquid. The 73 inch height puts the manway at the top of a short step, and the tank wants room to walk round. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. A 2 inch ball valve threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the tank wall carries liquid, not plumbing, and with a heavy liquid use a valve rated for it.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough for a float valve, a level sensor and a brush. The vent lets air in as the pump draws down, so keep it clear.
