550 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where a low, wide 550 fits

Buy this shape when height is the problem: a tank under a deck, inside a barn bay with a low door, next to a house where a tall tank would look out of place, or anywhere you want to fill and inspect from the ground. The trade is footprint. The tank needs a flat, level, continuous surface a little more than 67 inches across, and because the base carries 6880 lb at full rating, a compacted gravel bed or a concrete pad is the right foundation, not blocks or pallets. What goes in it

Potable and non-potable water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water; heavier liquids need Norwesco's heavy duty tanks. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. On a 44 inch tank it is at chest height, so filling from a hose, dropping a float switch in or getting a brush inside is easy.
