A 710 gallon white leg tank with a bottom drain that empties all the way
The Norwesco 710 gallon horizontal leg tank with bottom drain, part number 40655, is a white polyethylene tank 104 inches long, 47 inches wide and 57 inches tall, weighing 204 lb empty. The moulded legs let it sit flat on a trailer deck, a truck bed or a skid without a cradle, and the bottom drain puts the outlet at the low point so the tank empties completely instead of leaving a heel behind, which matters when the next load is a different product. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the drain and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. Norwesco rates it for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which is 12.52 lb per gallon; 710 gallons of water weighs 5921 lb. On a trailer, a truck or the ground
At 104 by 47 inches it fits along a tandem axle trailer or a flatbed with room either side, and at 57 inches tall the manway is reached from the deck. Full of water the tank and its load come to about three tons, so the trailer rating, not the tank, is the limit; strap it through the leg recesses, never over the manway, and use support bands where the tank rides on a vehicle. The drain outlet sits under the tank, so leave clearance below the deck or set it over a cutout if you are plumbing straight down. What goes in it
Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; the entries leg tank buyers ask about most are urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and sulfuric acid. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, and nothing hotter than 120 F should go in. Openings and fittings
- Bottom drain. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the low point. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Fit the valve before the first fill and support it and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean.
