Will it work for your application
This is a cone bottom tank, so it must sit in a matching steel stand that supports the cone and lets you fully drain the vessel from the bottom outlet. The molded-in fittings shown on the drawing include a flange outlet, an 18 in PE threaded/vented fitting, a manway with 15 in access, and a 12 in x 13 in fitting. Use the manway with 15 in access for inspection and cleanout, and plan your vent and fill connections around the 18 in PE threaded/vented port. XLPE is a single-wall material, so for full secondary containment you will need a separate basin sized to the contents. Chemical compatibility
This tank is crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) rated to 1.5 specific gravity. At that 1.5 SG rating it is compatible with Acetic Acid (60%), Aluminum Sulfate (50%), Calcium Chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), Ferrous Sulfate (20%), Magnesium Chloride (30%), Sodium Carbonate (30%), Urea Solution (50%), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM). Fittings and gaskets must match the chemical, not just the tank: Aluminum Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Ferrous Sulfate, Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Carbonate, and Ozonated Water all call for PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets; Acetic Acid and Urea Solution call for PP/PVC fittings with EPDM; and DEF requires 316SS fittings with EPDM. Worth noting: DEF (a 32.5% urea solution) and the listed Urea Solution (50%) are chemically related but spec'd differently here, so don't assume one fitting material covers both. Always verify against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your specific concentration and storage temperature, since both shift the rating. The mistake to avoid: under-rating the SG
This vessel is rated to 1.5 SG, which covers the chemicals above but is not enough for the denser ones. Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, and Sodium Thiosulfate all require a higher 1.9 SG tank, so do not put any of those in this 1.5-rated vessel; step up to the 1.9 SG-rated XLPE cone bottom equivalent instead. Most of those call for PVC fittings with EPDM, but two are exceptions: Hydrofluosilicic Acid needs PP/PVC fittings with Viton gaskets rather than EPDM, and Propylene Glycol needs PP/316SS fittings. Get the fitting material, gasket, and SG rating right against the OEM chart and your hardware will last as long as the tank.
