A 120 gallon used-oil tank with the containment built in
The Snyder 5700102N95703 is a double wall waste oil tank: a 120 gallon yellow polyethylene primary vessel standing inside its own secondary shell, 34 inches across and 51 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds. The lid is a 12 inch hinged, lockable cover with a strainer basket under it, so used oil is poured in through a screen and the filter, rag or drain plug that goes in with it stays on top. The outlet is a 2 inch male camlock on an internal draw pipe, so the oil hauler's hose clicks on and pumps the tank down from the bottom. It is rated for a specific gravity of 1.5 and listed to NSF-61.

Why double wall, and why yellow
A used-oil drum in a corner of the shop is a spill waiting for a forklift. This tank replaces it with a primary tank that cannot leak onto the floor: if the inner wall fails, the oil is caught in the outer one and stays there until somebody notices. That is the arrangement regulators expect for used oil and for any waste fluid a shop accumulates, and the RCRA 40 CFR 264.193 secondary containment guide explains what a hazardous waste tank system has to have, how leak detection is done and how often the interstitial space gets checked. Yellow is the color of a fluid that is not fresh oil, so nobody fills a gearbox from it by mistake. The SPCC 40 CFR 112 compliance walkthrough covers where a double wall tank counts as the secondary containment an oil spill plan needs.
Two sizes on the same base
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5700102N95703 (this tank) | 120 | 34 x 51 in | 100 lb |
| 5710102N95703 | 150 | 34 x 62 in | 110 lb |
The 150 gallon version is the same 34 inch base, 11 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier, for a shop that fills a tank between hauler visits. Most oil haulers will pick up 120 gallons; check their minimum before choosing, because a tank that never fills to the pickup minimum is a tank that sits. The tank sizing calculator works from your oil changes per week and the hauler's interval.

How it is used
- Fill: 12 inch hinged, lockable lid with a strainer basket; pour from a drain pan or a caddy, and the screen catches the solids.
- Empty: 2 inch male camlock on an internal draw pipe; the hauler's suction hose couples in seconds and the pipe draws from the bottom.
- Rating: 1.5 specific gravity, 1,501 pounds of contents at that density, with room for used oil at any temperature a shop sees.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C; do not pour hot drained oil straight from an engine that has just been run at highway temperature.
Used oil arrives warm and expands as it cools, and the interstitial space between the walls has its own volume; the Captor double wall freeboard sizing guide explains how much of the nominal 120 gallons is actually usable once thermal expansion and density are accounted for. The Snyder Captor 110 percent containment comparison sets the polyethylene double wall against UL 142 steel for the same job.
Where it lives
Quick-lube bays, fleet shops, farm machine sheds, marinas and small engine dealers: anywhere used oil, used coolant or used hydraulic fluid is generated a few gallons at a time and hauled away in bulk. The chemical list below is the resin's compatibility list, not a suggestion; a waste tank should hold one fluid, labeled, because a hauler will refuse a mixed load. The tank sizing guide covers how to match a waste tank to a hauler schedule.
Freight for a 120 gallon tank
The tank ships on a pallet as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-03), 100 pounds, 34 by 34 by 51 inches; the freight cost estimator returns the rate for your ZIP and the listed price is before freight. It comes off a liftgate on a pallet jack. Before the first pour, check that the lid latches and locks, that the strainer basket seats, and that the camlock cap is on the draw pipe; then leave it where the hauler's hose can reach it.
