The Snyder Industries 1500 Gallon 45 Degree HDPE Cone Bottom Tank is built for batch chemical service that has to drain clean. The 45-degree cone drives solids and liquid toward the center outlet so the tank empties on its own instead of trapping product on a flat floor. It carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, the number that matters most when you size a cone tank for chemical duty: it tells you the wall and support structure are engineered for liquids substantially heavier than water. Standing 140.75 inches tall on a 64 x 64 inch footprint, this is a tall tank that needs a dedicated cone stand or steel support frame rated for the loaded weight.

Will this cone bottom tank work for your application?

Capacity is 1500 gallons in white polyethylene. The drawing fittings on this tank include a flange, an 18" PE threaded/vented fitting, and a manway with 15" access for entry and cleaning; see the technical drawing on this page for fitting placement and outlet detail. Footprint is 64 x 64 inches and the tank alone stands 140.75 inches, roughly 11.7 feet. On a cone stand the outlet and overall installed height climb several feet higher, so confirm your building clearance, doorway, and fill-access height before you order. As a cone bottom tank from Snyder, it is built to drain by gravity and pairs with the support stand sized to your duty.

Size the stand for your chemical, not for water

Filled with water this tank runs about 12,510 lb. At its 1.9 SG maximum rating the contents alone reach 23,769 lb. That spread is the single most common cone tank mistake: people size the stand for water and then fill with a heavy chemical. Contents weight scales linearly with specific gravity, so compute it directly for your product: gallons x 8.34 x SG, then add the tank's own dead weight. A 1.4 SG product, for example, puts roughly 17,500 lb of contents on the structure, between the two stated numbers. Size your stand, slab, and anchor bolts to that loaded figure. 1.9 SG is the ceiling for this tank, so verify your chemical's specific gravity is at or below 1.9 at storage temperature before you commit it.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene cone tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity. Our resin code for this unit is not yet pinned to linear versus crosslinked, so call us at 866-418-1777 to confirm the resin grade before committing it to chemical service; crosslinked and linear polyethylene do not behave the same against every chemical. Always verify against the OEM chemical-resistance chart at your specific concentration and storage temperature before ordering. The chemicals below are listed as compatible with this tank, each with the recommended fitting and gasket materials:

The fitting and gasket callouts change by chemical, and that is where leaks start. Most chlorides and sulfates run PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets, but the aggressive cases break the pattern: Sulfuric Acid at 98% needs CPVC fittings rather than PVC; DEF and Peracetic Acid call for 316SS metal fittings; Peracetic Acid is the only chemical here that wants Aflas gaskets, not EPDM or Viton; and Sodium Hypochlorite, Sulfuric, Phosphoric, Hydrofluoric, and Hydrogen Peroxide all require Viton. Match the wrong gasket to the chemical and you can leak a tank that is otherwise perfectly compatible. We can supply your tank fitted and gasketed to match your chemical, so tell us your product and concentration and we will spec the fittings and gaskets with you. Cross-check every selection against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your exact concentration and temperature, and start with our Chemical Compatibility Database.

Freight and how to order
