That is the reason to buy it: a dense liquid, a specification that asks for linear polyethylene rather than cross-linked, and a black wall for a liquid that light spoils, all in one part number. When the specification asks for cross-linked, the N48 is the black tank to look at; when the liquid is light and the rating does not matter, the C34 is the same shell in a lighter duty. The low shape is the other half of the argument. Six feet of height clears a shed eave, a lean-to, or a chemical room framed before anyone planned a tank, and the manway is reached from a step, not a platform; the cost is floor, a seven foot two inch circle that carries 23,769 pounds at the rating in full contact, engineered per the concrete pad sizing guide and set inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Strap it while it is empty; a black tank grows in the sun and loosens what was tight. The top four rows are the same molding; the sheet separates them by resin and rating, not by size or weight. Step off the wide base and the 1830400N40 holds 1,300 gallons on a six foot circle at 87 inches, a cross-linked tank by its name for a site that has some height and less floor, and the 1840000C26 stands 1,550 gallons at ten feet four inches on a 64 inch circle for the site that has height to spare and wants a natural wall to read the level through.

Venting a dense fill into a wide, shallow tank

• Vent and fill: an 18 inch threaded, vented manway at 72 inches, reached from a step. A dense chemical arrives by tanker, and a tanker pump displaces air faster than a lid vent passes it; size the vent to the delivery pump before the first load, or open the manway for the fill with someone at it. A wide tank fills fast for its height, so the person at the manway watches the level, not the truck. The fill goes down a dip tube, the vent is screened, and it runs outdoors on anything that fumes.
• Headspace: the fill stops at the shoulder. On a shallow tank the headspace is a thin band, and a dense liquid expanding in the afternoon sun uses it up faster than a tall tank would; inspect the wall above the liquid line with a light at every opening.
• Outlet: the outlet field on the sheet reads 15, and we print it as the sheet gives it. Name the liquid at order and the bulkhead fitting, gasket and bolting are matched to it, with a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the first valve carried on its own support.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Six feet of a liquid nearly twice the weight of water is a modest head, so the pump on this tank sits below the outlet where gravity primes it, and a low-level float stops it before it draws air. A rigid line bolted straight to the bulkhead puts every bit of pump vibration and pipe expansion into the wall, which is why the connector is flexible and the valve sits on its own support. A forklift with long forks sets 260 pounds on the pad with the forks under the body, never through the manway, and the straps go on the same day. Water first: fill it to the shoulder, hold it, watch the pad edge and the base fitting, then drain and dry before the chemical goes in. Then leave it alone for a day before the plumbing goes on; a settled tank is a quiet one. Keep the pallet under cover, because a tank this wide that ever moves again moves easier on it, and a wide load is the one that gets moved.
