A column, not a drum

Full at the rating it puts 24,561 pounds on a 64 inch circle, one of the heaviest loads per square foot in Snyder's line, so the slab is engineered per the concrete pad sizing guide, not poured by rule of thumb, inside a berm sized to the tank when the liquid is regulated. Empty, ten feet of polyethylene on a five foot base goes over in a gust or a bump from a forklift, so it is strapped to structure at the top third before the first fill. Grades on the 64 x 124 inch tank, and the low 1,500 and 1,600

The C34 is this tank in black for sun or a light-sensitive liquid, and the N48 and N49 are the other chemical grades in the same shell, listed thirty pounds lighter on the sheet. The 1770000C34 lays 1,500 gallons down to 72 inches on an 86 inch base for a site with floor and no height, and the 32118 is the 1,600 gallon water tank on that base.

Fittings, and reaching them

• Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; tell us the liquid when ordering and the fitting is matched to it, with a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 124 inches up; a platform with a rail for anyone who opens it. Fill through a dip tube to the floor, vent outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Ten feet of liquid above the outlet is a strong flooded suction for any pump; mount it below the outlet so it primes by gravity, and a low-level float shuts it off before it runs dry. Vapor loss is the manway's job to prevent, so it stays shut; the label names the one chemical; and the inspection is a light on the headspace wall, not the wetted one. The body takes a freeze from the top down without damage; the outlet valve and the first pipe run do not, so they get trace heat or insulation where it freezes.

A forklift with long forks or a crane strap under the body stands 335 pounds up. Strap it before the first fill, then fill it with water to the manway, look at the outlet fitting and the pad edge, drain and dry, and the chemical goes in. Keep one spare gasket for the outlet fitting on the shelf; it is the part that fails on a holiday.
