Seven feet five inches across: the pad is the whole job

On a squat tank the floor is the engineering and the ceiling is the reason you are buying it. Take the ceiling first, because it is why this shape exists: at 77 inches the shell tops out at six feet five inches, which leaves a fill line and a vent real room under a beam that a tall 1,500 gallon tank could not go anywhere near, and it puts the manway within reach of a short platform instead of a tall one. Now the floor, which is where the work is. An 89 inch circle is seven feet five inches of slab, it will not pass a 36 inch doorway, and it does not tuck into a corner, so the route in from the dock is walked with a tape before the order is placed and the aisle a forklift needs afterwards is drawn on the same sketch. The load on that circle is the largest in this batch. Plain water is 12,510 pounds and the 1.9 rating allows 23,769 pounds of contents, and because a rotationally molded floor bears on its whole floor rather than on a ring or a skirt, every square foot of the 89 inch circle has to be supporting its share; a wide tank on a slab with one low corner puts its weight on that corner and finds every soft edge the pour left. Level, full contact, engineered for the bearing pressure, and inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Strapping still applies even though the shape is stable: 400 pounds of empty shell on a smooth slab slides in a gust before it ever tips, so band it to structure or to slab anchors the day it lands and check the tension after the first storm and at the end of the first summer, because a black wall in the sun grows a little every day. The black keeps light out of the liquid and takes the ultraviolet that ages a pale shell outdoors; it also means the level is invisible, so a sender and a readout belong in the install. The 1,500s, wide against tall

The case for this molding is weight in the wall, not volume in the shell. At 400 pounds empty it is the heaviest 1,500 gallon tank in the table by a wide margin, where the three 1770000 shells hold the same volume in an 86 inch circle at 72 inches and weigh 260 pounds, each rated as its own sheet says. That extra material, with a 1.9 rating and ladder lugs on the sheet, is what you are paying for, and it is worth paying for on a dense liquid and wasted on rinse water. The same shell is also molded in a natural white wall, listed separately and rated as its own sheet says; take the black one when keeping light out of the liquid matters more than seeing the level through the wall. If height is not your constraint at all, the table shows what you give up for the low roof: the 1830400N40 holds 1,300 gallons on a 72 inch base at 87 inches and the 1840000C26 stacks 1,550 gallons into a 64 inch circle 124 inches tall, which is over ten feet and a platform job.

No outlet size printed, a vented manway, and ladder lugs

• Outlet: the sheet gives the outlet as "1 Manway / Lid" and prints no bottom fitting size anywhere on it. That is the field as it stands and not a pipe diameter, and this page claims no bulkhead size for this tank. Name the liquid and the draw-off arrangement you want at order and we confirm what this molding accepts, in what material, with what gasket, before anything is drilled.
• Listed opening: an 18 inch threaded, vented manway at 77 inches, which on a shell this wide is the harder problem than the height. The manway is near the middle of a seven foot five inch top, so reaching it means a platform that puts a person over the tank rather than beside it, with a rail and a gate.
• Ladder lugs: the sheet lists them, which is what makes a fixed access arrangement practical on a tank of this width. It lists lugs, not a ladder; the ladder and the platform are specified with the install.
• Fill and vent: a permanent fill connection at the manway, a dip tube to the floor so a dense liquid does not free-fall and splash the headspace, the vent piped outdoors on anything that fumes, and the vent sized to the delivery pump, which on a 1,500 gallon tank filled by truck matters more than on a small one.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C. Warranty: 3 year. Rating: specific gravity 1.9 as the sheet gives it.

A wide, shallow shell holding a dense liquid asks for two things at the base. First, support: whatever is plumbed there sits on its own stand off the pad with a flexible connector between the tank and hard pipe, because a rigid run bolted to the shell puts every bit of thermal movement and pump vibration into the wall. Second, patience: there are only 77 inches of liquid above the floor at best, so suction head is small, the pump belongs below the outlet where gravity primes it, a low-level float stops it before it pulls air, and the last inches come out slowly whatever is fitted. Keep the manway threaded shut between deliveries, put the one liquid's name on the wall in letters a driver reads from the cab, and light the band of wall above the liquid line every time the cover is off. Where the site freezes, the trace heat and insulation go on the base piping and the first valve; the body takes ice from the top down.

Bulk dense-liquid storage under a low roof

The buyers are the ones who need bulk volume in a building that was not designed for it: a treatment plant with a low chemical room, a plating or finishing shop storing a dense bath solution, a co-op or grower with a fertilizer solution under a shed roof, a mix and batching station beneath a conveyor, and an outdoor pad where wind or a height rule rules out a tall vessel. Two plants, class 300, and 400 pounds off the trailer

Class 300 and 400 pounds shipping weight is what the sheet gives, from Chowchilla, California or Lincoln, Nebraska, and two origins means the lane to most docks is shorter than a single-plant tank of this size would be. At 89 inches across it is a wide parcel the carrier handles differently from a compact one, so price the lane to your ZIP in the freight cost estimator before the order is cut, and the listed price is before freight. Unloading wants a forklift with forks long enough to clear a seven foot five inch base, straps under the body and never a sling through the manway, and it sets on the cured pad rather than a staging slab. Fill it to the manway with water, hold it, and walk the whole circumference twice while it holds, because on a tank this wide a pad fault shows at the edge long before it shows anywhere else, then drain and dry before the working liquid arrives. Leave room to walk all the way around it on the pad, because the side of a wide black tank nobody can reach is the side that leaks.
