The 1770000 tanks spread 1,500 gallons over an 86 inch circle at 72 inches tall; the 1840000 tanks stack 1,550 gallons on a 64 inch circle at 124 inches. Buy this one when the tank goes between two that are already there, down an alley, or in the corner of a room where a seven foot circle would block the aisle; buy the wide one when the roof is low. Full at the rating it puts 24,561 pounds on a 64 inch circle, a heavier load per square foot than the wide 1,500 carries, so the pad is engineered per the concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Ten feet of tank on a five foot circle has the highest center of gravity in the family, so the strapping is designed before the pad is poured: bands to structure at the top third, anchors in the slab, a check after the first windy week. Two cross-linked black tanks at 305 pounds and two at 335 share the slim shell, each rated as its own sheet says. The low tanks are the alternative when the roof is the limit: the 1770000C34 holds 1,500 gallons in black at six feet tall on an 86 inch circle, and the 32118 holds 1,600 gallons in white one inch lower for a liquid that does not mind light.

Ten feet of vent line on a five foot circle

• Vent and fill: the 18 inch threaded, vented manway sits 124 inches up, so both the fill line and the vent run ten feet before they reach the lid, and both are supported off the wall, not hung from it. The lid vent breathes a gravity fill; a pump fills a tank this size in minutes and moves air faster than the lid vent passes it, so the vent is sized to the pump or the lid is opened for the fill with someone on the platform. Fill down a dip tube so a dense liquid does not fall ten feet, screen the vent, and run it outdoors on a liquid that fumes.
• Headspace: a narrow tank has a small liquid surface and a tall headspace; stop the fill at the shoulder and inspect the wall above the liquid line with a light from the manway at every opening.
• Outlet: the outlet field on the sheet reads 16, and we print it as the sheet gives it. Name the liquid at order and the bulkhead fitting, gasket and bolting are matched to it, with a flexible connector to hard pipe and the first valve carried on its own support.
• Service limit: 140 F / 60 C.

Ten feet of a liquid nearly twice the weight of water is the strongest head in the 1,500 gallon family, which keeps a transfer pump flooded to the last few inches and also puts more pressure on the base fitting than the low tanks do; the supported valve and the flexible connector are what keep that pressure and the pump's vibration out of the wall. Mount the pump below the outlet, fit a low-level float, keep the lid shut between deliveries, and name the one chemical on the wall. Where it freezes, the valve and the first pipe run get trace heat or insulation; the body ices from the top down.

Alleys, corners and tall sheds

A forklift stands 305 pounds up with straps under the body, never through the manway, and the straps to structure go on before the forklift leaves, because this is not a tank that stands unstrapped for a week. Fill it with water to the shoulder once and hold it, watching the pad edge and the base fitting, then drain and dry before the chemical arrives. It does not pass a 36 inch door; measure the opening before the truck is booked. Save the pallet; a tank that ever has to move again is easier to move on it.
