Black, cross-linked and slim

Three choices are built into this tank. The black colour blocks light, which protects liquids that break down in sunlight and keeps algae out of stored water. The cross-linked resin, XLPE, has its polymer chains bonded together during moulding, giving a tougher wall that resists stress cracking better than standard polyethylene and a service limit of 140 F. And the shape, 29 inches across and 66 inches tall, puts 175 gallons on a small footprint that fits through a doorway and into a tight corner.

What the black wall takes away is the view of the level. Fit a sight tube or a level gauge from the start rather than opening the top to look. A black tank in full sun also runs warm, so in a hot climate keep it shaded; a liquid that starts warm and sits in the sun is the one that tests the 140 F limit. 1. Restraint. At 66 inches tall on a 29 inch base the tank is top heavy when full. Band it to a wall or a frame, and do it before the first fill.
