Why cross-linked, and why this shape
Cross-linked polyethylene, XLPE, has its polymer chains bonded to each other during moulding. The practical result is a tougher wall that resists stress cracking better than ordinary polyethylene, which is why it is the usual choice for harder chemical duty. This tank's 140 F limit gives you room for liquids that arrive or run warm. The shape is the other reason to pick this part. A 29 inch circle fits through a standard doorway and into the narrow gap beside a pump, a filter housing or a wall, and the tank makes up the volume in height instead.
