The Snyder Industries 1900 Gallon ASTM XLPE Black Vertical Storage Tank (SKU 1780200N46) is a crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) vertical tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity, which means it is built to hold liquids heavier than water without the wall thinning to failure. It stands 119 inches tall on a 72 x 72 inch square footprint, so plan your pad and overhead clearance around those numbers before you buy. As a black tank, it blocks light to slow algae growth in stored water, making it a common choice for bulk water storage, fire-water reserves, and process water on farms and job sites.

Will it work for your site?

Capacity is 1900 gallons nominal. Filled with water this tank carries about 15,846 pounds; at its full 1.5 SG rating it can hold up to 23,769 pounds of contents. Use those weights to size your foundation, because a slab that works for water may not work for a heavier fluid. Note that 1900 gallons is the nominal figure and an ASTM D1998 vertical is rated to a fill line set below the top wall, so confirm the working volume against the drawing before you size a pump or overflow to a number you cannot fill to. If you are unsure how much storage you actually need or how the load transfers to the pad, run the numbers with our Tank Sizing Calculator and read the Tank Sizing Guide, then confirm the pad against the framework in our concrete pad sizing guide. For rural fire-protection reservoirs, our NFPA 22 reservoir design guide walks through sizing discipline and freeze protection.

Fittings and access

Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank is configured with a flange outlet, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented fitting, and a manway with 15-inch access for interior inspection and cleaning. Confirm the fitting sizes and elevations on the drawing against your plumbing and vent runs before installation, and verify the layout matches your pump, overflow, and level-sensor plan.

Why the 1.5 SG XLPE build matters

Water is only 1.0 specific gravity, so a 1.5 SG crosslinked structure is deliberately over-spec'd for plain water. That headroom is what you are paying for: it gives structural margin for long-service fire-water duty and leaves room to store a denser fluid later without being boxed in by a standard 1.0 SG HDPE water tank. Just remember the SG rating is a structural clearance, not a chemical one. Before storing anything other than water, match your specific fluid to the resin and confirm the tank is rated for that fluid's weight and chemistry. The gasket at the flange and manway is the compatibility-critical interface, since the PE wall is one material but the flange gasket and bolt hardware are usually where a wrong material fails first, so verify those against your fluid too. For a denser or double-wall containment build, review the freeboard and usable-volume math in our Snyder Captor freeboard guide, and if you are aggregating grey water, rainwater, or HVAC condensate, our water reuse topology guide covers quality-banded storage trains.
