What the 1.35 rating is for
Specific gravity is the weight of a liquid against water. A 1.35 rating means the wall is built for liquids up to 1.35 times as heavy as water. Well water, rainwater, livestock and irrigation water, and dilute solutions all sit well inside it. Brines, strong fertilizer blends and many treatment chemicals run heavier, and a tank filled past its rating is overstressed at the bottom of the wall, where the pressure is highest. The shape is low and wide. 88 inches tall keeps the manway within reach of a step ladder and lets the tank go under a lean-to roof or into a pump house, at the cost of a 90 inch circle of floor. - Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top: the fill point, the vent and the way in for inspection. Keep the vent open; a sealed tank can pull a vacuum when a pump draws it down.
