The 1.9 SG rating is the number that matters. It tells you the wall thickness is rated for liquids up to 1.9 times the density of water, which covers most agricultural fertilizers and many concentrated chemicals that would over-stress a 1.0 or 1.5 SG tank. Read SG as a weight rating only — it does not by itself qualify the tank for a given chemical (resin chemistry does that, covered below). Chemical compatibility

Treat the resin as a gating step before any chemical service: call 866-418-1777 and confirm HDLPE versus crosslinked (XLPE) for your liquid first, because resin chemistry — not the SG rating — governs long-term compatibility. Most listed chemicals run the default PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets: aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), ethylene glycol (100%), ferric chloride (50%), ferric sulfate (60%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate (50%), potassium hydroxide (saturated), sodium carbonate (30%), sodium thiosulfate (40%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM). A few run polypropylene or mixed plastic fittings with EPDM: acetic acid (60%, PP/PVC), urea solution (50%, PP/PVC), sodium bisulfate (PVC/PP), sodium bisulfite (PVC/PP), propylene glycol (PP/316SS), and zinc orthophosphate (PP/316SS).

The exceptions are where mistakes happen, so order hardware to match the row, not the shelf. DEF (32.5% urea solution) requires 316SS fittings with EPDM — ordinary metals corrode and contaminate the fluid, and note that DEF is a different row than the urea solution above even though they are chemically related. The strong acids and oxidizers demand Viton gaskets: hydrochloric acid (37%, PVC), hydrofluoric acid (48%, PP/PVC), hydrofluosilicic acid (26%, PP/PVC), hydrogen peroxide (50%, PVC), phosphoric acid (85%, PVC), sodium hypochlorite (under 16.5%, PVC), and sulfuric acid (98%), which specifically calls CPVC fittings rather than PVC. Peracetic acid (30%) is the most demanding of all — 316SS fittings with an Aflas gasket.
