The Snyder Industries 2000 Gallon Plastic Horizontal Leg Tank is a white polyethylene horizontal leg tank built for fertilizer, ag chemical, and bulk liquid transport on a skid, trailer, or nurse-rig. It measures 142 inches long by 84 inches wide by 55 inches tall, with integral support legs and securing hoops molded to cradle the tank and tie it down for road and field use. Snyder rates it to a 1.5 specific gravity, which is the single number that decides whether your liquid belongs in it.

Will it work for your liquid?

Filled with water this tank carries 16,680 lb, and at its full 1.5 specific gravity rating it holds up to 25,020 lb of contents. Use those weights to size your trailer, axles, and tie-down hardware before you ever load it. The 84 x 142 inch footprint is the dimension to confirm against your skid or trailer deck, and because this is a horizontal leg tank, the legs and securing hoops carry the load, so the supporting frame underneath has to match that footprint and the loaded weight. Hauling DEF at 32.5 percent is a common use for a tank this size; it fits the 1.5-SG rating, but use 316 stainless fittings and EPDM gaskets, not PVC. If you are matching a target volume to running gear your axles can handle, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide first.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is white polyethylene with a 1.5 specific gravity rating. The resin is listed as HDLPE but is not yet confirmed, so before you buy for any chemical service, call us at 866-418-1777 to confirm HDLPE versus XLPE for your liquid; we will not let you load it on an unverified resin. Within the 1.5 SG rating and per the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is always concentration- and temperature-specific, this tank handles Acetic Acid at 60% (PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), Aluminum Sulfate at 50% (PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride at 40% (PVC, EPDM), DEF at 32.5% (316SS, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate at 20% (PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Urea Solution at 50% (PP/PVC, EPDM), and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). Always match the fitting and gasket material to the chemical, not just the tank wall.

Chemicals that need a higher-SG tank

Several common ag and water-treatment chemicals exceed the 1.5 rating on this tank and require a 1.9 specific gravity tank instead. Do not put them in this one. They include Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Gasket material is not uniform across that group either: the strong acids, peroxide, and bleach (hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric, sulfuric, and sodium hypochlorite) need Viton, and peracetic acid needs Aflas, not EPDM. Confirm every selection against the OEM chemical-resistance chart at your exact concentration and temperature, and review our chemical compatibility reference before ordering.

The mistake to avoid

The number that bites people on a 2000-gallon leg tank is specific gravity, not capacity. A liquid heavier than 1.5 SG, or a chemical from the higher-SG list above, will overload the wall and the legs even though the gallons fit. If you are running bleach (sodium hypochlorite), sulfuric acid, or muriatic (hydrochloric) acid, you need the 1.9-SG version, not this one. See the technical drawing on this page to confirm the leg and hoop geometry against your trailer or skid bolt pattern before you commit. If you are hauling fertilizer blends, our guides on applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer, DOT classification for farm fleet use, and fertilizer-blend tank stratification are worth reading first. For double-wall SPCC containment, see Snyder Captor double-wall tanks.

This tank ships LTL freight from whichever Snyder plant is closer to your ZIP, West Coast orders from Chowchilla, CA and Eastern orders from Philippi, WV, so you are not paying for cross-country LTL, with the rate quoted live to your ZIP. Get your number with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will quote the freight, confirm the right specific gravity for your liquid, and get this 2000-gallon horizontal leg tank routed to you.
