The Snyder Industries 2500 Gallon Black Vertical Water Storage Tank (SKU WB60) is a polyethylene vertical tank built for bulk water storage at homes, ranches, farms, and remote job sites that need real on-site reserve. It stands 106 inches tall on a 90 x 90 inch footprint, holds 2,500 gallons, and carries a 1.0 specific gravity rating - the right rating for water and water-density liquids. The black exterior blocks light to discourage algae growth, which is why black vertical water storage is a common choice for outdoor non-potable water service. Below is what it holds, how it ships, and the numbers to plan around before you order.

What this tank holds and how it is built

Filled to capacity with water, this tank carries 20,850 pounds of contents - that is the full water weight and the maximum rated contents weight on the 1.0 specific gravity rating. Plan your slab or pad around that loaded figure, not the empty tank weight: 20,850 pounds spread over the 8,100 square inch footprint (90 x 90) works out to roughly 2.6 psi average bearing pressure, a number you can hand a contractor or engineer for the pad pour. The 90 x 90 inch footprint and 106 inch height make it a tall, compact-footprint vertical storage tank that fits where a wider tank would not. Because the contents weight is fixed by the 1.0 SG rating, water is the intended service; if you ever consider a denser liquid, that changes the math and the tank rating entirely. Our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk you through matching capacity to your draw-down and refill cycle. The dimensions and port layout on the technical drawing on this page are authoritative for siting and plumbing.

Fittings and access

The tank comes outfitted for plumbing and inspection out of the box. It carries a flange and a flat fitting location at 272.5 degrees, a 1-1/2 inch polypropylene Eco bulkhead fitting with an EPDM gasket, and a 2 inch polypropylene bulkhead fitting with an EPDM gasket. In typical use the 2 inch bulkhead serves as the gravity outlet or drain and the 1-1/2 inch suits a return, fill, or auxiliary line - confirm both against the drawing's port placement before you plumb. Both bulkheads ship with EPDM gaskets, the standard sealing elastomer for cold-water service, so the seals match the application out of the box. Top access is through an 18 inch polyethylene manway assembly fitted with a 4 inch vent and tie-down - the vent matters, because a sealed tank can deform under fast fill or draw, so keep fill and draw rates within what the 4 inch vent can pass and never cap or plug it. The complete fitting layout, port placement, and the 272.5 degree flat location are shown on the technical drawing on this page; check it against your inlet, outlet, and overflow plan before you set the tank.

Freight: how it gets to you

This is a large vertical storage tank that ships by LTL freight, quoted live to your ZIP - never bundled into the list price. It ships from the nearest Snyder Industries plant: Lincoln, Nebraska or Philippi, West Virginia. Buyers east of the Mississippi generally draw from Philippi, WV, while central and western states draw from Lincoln, NE - the nearer plant keeps your freight down. Run your ZIP through the Freight Cost Estimator for a live rate, or call us at 866-418-1777 and we will quote it with you.

For deeper planning, our 2500 gallon black water tank buyer's guide covers configuration and siting (use the on-page drawing as the authoritative spec for this exact tank), the fire-water reservoir design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing and cold-climate freeze protection, and the water reuse tank topology guide covers grey-water, rainwater, and HVAC condensate storage trains.
