The Snyder Industries 2500 Gallon Mocha Straight-Wall Vertical Water Storage Tank is a 2,500-gallon polyethylene vertical tank built for bulk water storage where you need real capacity on a compact footprint. It stands 90 inches tall on a 96-by-96-inch base, gives you the straight cylindrical sidewall that makes leveling and pad layout predictable, and ships in mocha to blend into outdoor installs. If you are sizing a vertical storage tank for irrigation, fire reserve, or general water storage, this is a straightforward, high-volume water storage option.

Will it work for your site?

This tank is rated for liquids up to a specific gravity of 1.0, which covers water and water-based contents at that density. Filled to capacity, plan for serious load: a full 2,500 gallons of water weighs about 20,850 pounds, and the tank's maximum rated contents weight is the same 20,850 pounds. That number drives your pad design more than anything else, so engineer the foundation for the full filled weight, not the empty tank. The footprint is 96.0 x 96.0 inches square in plan. For plumbing, the drawing shows two bulkhead fittings: a 2 inch heavy-duty PP bulkhead with an EPDM seal and a 1-1/2 inch PP eco-bulkhead with EPDM, plus a 26 inch vented manway with stainless lid screws for top access. As a general rule, the larger 2 inch bulkhead set low works well as a gravity-fed draw, with the 1-1/2 inch used for fill or return, but confirm the actual fitting elevations on the technical drawing on this page against your supply and discharge lines before you set the tank.

Sizing and foundation

Because the contents weight is the governing load, treat the pad as the first design decision. Run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 2,500 gallons matches your draw and refill cadence, then size the slab for the full 20,850-pound load. Our guide to concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework so the foundation carries the tank without differential settlement. If this unit is going into a supplemental or rural fire-water reserve, the fire-water reservoir design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing and cold-climate freeze protection; note that a single 2,500-gallon poly tank is a reserve component, not a code-sized municipal reservoir, so the tank itself does not confer NFPA 22 compliance. For grey-water, rainwater, or condensate aggregation, see our industrial water reuse tank topology guide.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank this size is treating the fittings and manway as an afterthought. Both bulkheads ship with EPDM gaskets, which is the correct seal material for water service. Do not swap in an off-the-shelf gasket of a different material when you plumb it, since changing the gasket chemistry can compromise the fit and seal these fittings are built around. Confirm the supplied 2 inch and 1-1/2 inch bulkhead sizes match your lines before delivery. The 26 inch manway has an integral vent, so no separate vent fitting is needed: the tank breathes through the manway as it fills and draws down. Keep that vent clear, because blocking it risks pulling a vacuum and collapsing the tank on rapid drawdown. Finally, remember the 1.0 specific gravity rating is for water-density contents only, so this is a water tank, not a chemical tank. If you need to store something heavier than water, call us before you buy and we will quote a higher-strength industrial-grade tank.

This tank ships LTL freight from the Snyder plant in Merced, CA, and freight is quoted live to your ZIP code.
