The Snyder Industries 3000 Gallon Black Vertical Water Storage Tank gives rural homesteads, fire-water reservoirs, and bulk water programs 3,000 gallons of upright polyethylene storage on a compact 90-inch-square footprint. It stands 125 inches tall, measures 90 inches wide, and is molded from black polyethylene with a 1.0 specific-gravity rating, meaning it is engineered for water and other contents at or below the weight of water. If you are sizing a vertical storage tank against your pad space and overhead clearance, the 90.0 x 90.0 footprint and 125-inch height are the two numbers to plan around first.

Will it work for your site?

This is a vented, stationary vertical water storage tank. Filled to capacity it carries 25,020 pounds of water, so the pad underneath has to be flat, level, continuously supported, and rated for the full water weight plus the tank itself - no blocking, no gravel humps, no partial slab. The maximum rated contents weight is also 25,020 pounds, which keeps you inside the 1.0 specific-gravity band: store water or any liquid no heavier than water, and confirm the specific gravity of your contents before filling. For heavier liquids, a higher specific-gravity-rated tank is required - call 866-418-1777 and we will point you to the right size class.

Fittings and plumbing plan

From the technical drawing on this page you can see the molded-in fittings, and they tell you exactly where to tie in:

  • 18" PE manway with 5" vent and tie-down - your fill and inspection access. The 5-inch vent matters: a tank this size must breathe freely as it fills and drains, so keep that vent clear and unobstructed.
  • 2" polypropylene bulkhead fitting, EPDM gasket - the typical main drain or feed point.
  • 1-1/2" polypropylene Eco-bulkhead, textured EPDM gasket - a secondary port for an overflow, return, or instrument line.
  • 12" x 15" flat fitting flange at 270 degrees - flat mounting pad for an added fitting if your layout needs one.

The bulkheads ship with EPDM gaskets, which are correct for cold and hot water service - do not use them for petroleum- or hydrocarbon-based liquids. Match any field plumbing to the polypropylene fittings and EPDM gaskets already on the tank; substituting or over-tightening them is the easiest way to introduce a leak path.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank this tall is treating the footprint as the only constraint. Before ordering, run the delivery-access checklist: overhead fill clearance above the 125-inch height, a level pad rated for the full 25,020 pounds, and forklift or crane access to offload an empty but bulky 90-inch-square, 125-inch-tall tank. Run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit, especially if this tank is feeding a fire-water reservoir or a water-reuse train where draw-down rate and refill timing drive the capacity decision.

Built for serious water programs

For private fire protection, our guide on fire-water reservoir tank design for rural and remote sites walks through NFPA 22 sizing discipline and freeze protection for cold-climate service. If you are aggregating grey-water, rainwater, or HVAC condensate, the industrial water reuse tank topology guide covers quality-banded storage trains and treatment-stage sequencing. For full dimensional and configuration detail on this size class, see the complete buyer's guides for the 3000 gallon black water storage tank and the alternate 3000 gallon configuration.
